i read somewhere around here you were considering bard spells? i had some ideas if you're open to them. i'm bad with clever names, and so i'll just suggest my ideas for their abilities. i kind of like the idea of a bard being about buffs and debuffing so i think the idea of status effects might be interesting.
necromancy: strips enemies of their death immunity for 3 rounds. i don't know if its possible to differentiate b/w undead, constructs, and other normally death-magic vulnerable enemies, but i think it'd be neat if you could wail non-undead, non-constructs for a quick few rounds.
transmutation: just as it adds to barkskin ac, it can remove it as well, this epic strips natural ac modifier of one monster for 20 rounds (including bosses). or for a group of monsters for 10 rounds. i think a spell like this would help to make con based buids viable and feel helpful in longer boss fights.
abjuration: the bard increases the teammates' knowledge about the spells to be expected by the enemies. raises spell resistance for the entire party to 10 or 15 + bard level
i think i could come up with some ideas for other schools for bards, though i don't think bards need all the schools, as well as some paladin/ranger epics if you're open to suggestions. i've tried to go for epics that follow the theme of pre-existing spells, but i'm really tired so who knows, i'm rambling at this point anyway....

I like the ideas, definitely stick with the themes, don't try to make the class something it's not.
For the necromancy epic: it's called implosion =P
