I've only been once in the pyramid and that was just to check what everyone is so hyped about. I ran in there, and got a good 3 second look around before this small thing (didn't get to see what sort of thing it was) ran up, and killed me in about two hits. But don't let this get your hopes down! (I purposefully took one of my less able characters so as not to disable one of my good ones till a server reset) obviously these areas were meant to be played, (haven't seen how nice it is so I can't tell if it's just for decoration yet) and I can't see why a group of 5-8 50+ lvl characters can't "dare" to take on this challenge. Everyone has trouble the first time they do a new run, but the glory (and loot) should be enough to encourage any able-bodied adventurer to lift up his sword/spellbook and join us on this great adventure!
Seeking: well built characters (Sssith is a joke to you, and Illithid is a run through the park) in a variety of classes (mages a must-have, could probably use cleric & druid casters too and a rogue will probably be needed) But most importantly: motivation! Vets who have already done the Pyramid, and are not afraid of facing it again, will be accepted with open hands, and any information posted here would be well appreciated. (any required items to complete the run, good resistances, good chars to bring along etc.)
It's time to get out from hiding beneath the bed, stop saying "you're off to the Pyramid? It's been nice knowing you..." and do the Legendary thing. It's time to show this so called "Pharaoh" what real adventurers are like!

I have been lucky enough to travel with some extremley powerful friends and make it out alive. I took some notes on the elemental damages (good luck covering your bases) and would be happy to try again without being just being dragged along.
Druid's Elemental Shunt seems important.
Look for Ravana, Crimson, Gaia or Ironfang online.

I was on a pyramid run once and from what I've seen you'll definitely need druids for elemental shunt. Clerics with Aegis help. From what I've heard, mages (sorcs and wizs) don't do too well in the pyramid through the transmute wall makes the final battle with the Pharoah significantly easier. Your tanks will need high ac (as in 130 or so). Dualwielders should carry a shield. Your entire party will need good immunities and resists to everything - both elements and exotics, especially magical. Don't underestimate the pyramid. How hard could it be? It's worse than you can imagine. It's far far worse than any of the other LL areas. Personally, If I were you, I wouldn't go in the pyramid without one of the DMs or the vets helping you. Miles, Mish, or Reminatas* are pretty much the only people I would risk the pyramid with. *- Sorry dude, can't remember how to spell your playername.

It can be done with a handful of people that know what they're doing, and ruined by a group of people who have no clue. Heed cath's advice and tread lightly, as the Black Pyramid is not forgiving towards the ill-prepared. And mages do have a role to serve, though there are other classes that can also perform the task of the mage to a lesser degree.

If the Pyramid is meant to be the "Mount Doom" of runs, the place where only the DMs and vets (and the foolhardy) go, and if it's supposed to be an area which 90% of the time is uncompleted on all servers at a server reset - as it is now - I can understand that. But, if each new area is built with intension of letting the players get a new challenge, with trying our skills just a bit more, then I think maybe it should be considered in a lighter mood, everyone is a noob to a new run at some point. But, I have heeded your words of wisdom Cathedral & Balduvard, charging into the unknown is never a good idea, so, I will be looking for a vet/DM who would like to join us on our excursion before I think of charging in there unprepared. - as a side note though I would like to add that DMs aside, the only way to get through the newest and most challenging of areas is to charge in, get wiped, learn from your mistakes, recuperate, and try again. I would be glad to at least be in a group which tried and failed so that I could get a picture of what to expect. I don't expect to walk into the Pyramid and even manage half as well as I do (or more like don't) in an Illithid run, anything the DMs and vets say is tough I usually run screaming from, and to say the truth, I expect I may not make it the whole way through my first one. (I had to do Sssith 6 times with my first immo char till I got the tag - then again he wasn't the best of builds...) It's possible I'm being premature, and that all I need to do is wait till the vets have gone trough the run enough times that they feel confident to go with a group who was never there before, and that way the run will start to get done more often, but I think I'd like to try it out.

Well... that was fun. Joined a Pyramid run today, and (as far as I know) we didn't have any vets/DMs with us, and we also didn't make it past the second area. (Partially imo because we didn't have a druid) And even though I fugued once loosing a DB bow, and even though we didn't make it that far, I'm glad I did it. I also just wanted to say to the makers: Well Done! absolutely amazing! I loved the new creatures, hazards, and special effects, (I really liked the portal opening) and the fact that it is so difficult just makes the place much more fascinating in a spine-tingling sort of way. I retract what I said, I don't think people will ever do the Pyramid as frequently as other runs are done on the server, but I do think it's amazing that this new area can put to the test even the best of builds/players. I have no doubt people will always want to try their hands at this.

I finally joined a Pyramid team yesterday, and they knew what they were doing ! We actually made it through, and killed the Pharaoh himself. It was extremely exciting. Sick hard, but we got full cleric and druid epic buffs on most of the time, and skilled people allways telling what immunites to switch to in each encounter. There were several deaths, but there was no time near party vipe. I fugued once (panic panic), but managed to run back to the group with a train from hell. Even got second on roll and grabbed a very sweet amulet. This night I had a nightmare about fuguing again and loosing my DB bow, guess thats a pretty obvious "Im addicted" sign . Ill put up a screenshot or two later on. Credits to the devs !, visually stunning !!, and nicely designed. It feels good to have been through the place, i thought it was impossible..., almost .

The pyramid is not impossible. It is VERY hard, and requires good teamwork from a well balanced party. Like every other LL area to date its considered nigh impossible at first. I remember when the illithids was considered almost as hard. Now we have people doing it in twosomes. Given some time, more and more people will go there. And from what I'm hearing, if you think the pyramid is hard, just wait til the Hells.

Big parties often screw up a Pyramid run as manically running around rezzing folks instead of attacking the mobs tends to cause party wipes in this area. Anybody done this area with less than three folks (our (the Royal our as I have generally done this area with two people I party a lot with) current record), I suspect that it might be possible with two but extremely risky due to vunerability whilst rezzing a party member
