If everyone shows up tomorrow night, we'll get underway. If not, the starting session will begin a week from tomorrow. Here's the final party:
johannhowitzer - Combat Bard/Rogue kaldair - Druid/Shifter Ability Mage Stormchaser - Battle Cleric Ommadawn - Wizard cataclysmic - Paladin tank
First playing session: Friday, July 13th, 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (12:00 Midnight GMT)
I apologize to those in the GMT time zone, as this playing session is a bit late for them, but I will be at work until 6:00 PM, so it's the earliest I can manage. Next Friday will be far more flexible for me at least, as I do not have work.
See you on the servers! Create your character and meet me in front of the Temple of Tyr in the docks. To find which server I'm on (which may vary depending on the traffic), you may either scry for my playername or add it to your GameSpy buddy list:
johann_howitzer
Yes, that's right, it has an underscore. I used to use johannhowitzer but switched when I bought a new copy of the game, as I used to play on my brother's CD key.
A final note: you may use your real name if you wish, but I'm not enforcing such a rule. All subraces allowed, but no quasiclasses. REMEMBER to put [Soldiers of Fortune] at the END of your character's name. I am also allowing use of the Rowan Guardian to attain level 2 or 3.

I am happy to report a very successful first session for us Soldiers of Fortune! Began a little late, but next week I anticipate a smooth start. Our ending levels are 4-5, depending on the initial Rowan boost of course, and the loot was particularly amazing. Who on this server can say they've ever seen a Helm of Elements +1? Or Lizard Mail, with +1 regen? Or a LEVEL 20 RARE GREATAXE!! That was the find of the night for sure, cataclysmic stashed it away for later. Some nice damage boosts.
We did a prelim run to the cellar and found a nifty 5/- bludgeoning helm for our tank, then some runs through the old mine and wilderness, and finally the orc bandit cave and the western docks area. Only two raises were needed, and thankfully we had bought exactly enough. Party needs to stick together more (myself included!), but overall I foresee no immediate trouble. Despite lack of gold, we have all managed to find sources of various kinds of AC, including some wonderful +2 half plates, I believe. Milestones to look forward to:
Level 6 - Our wizard's GMW increases to +2 Level 7 - Our wizard gains Stoneskin, cleric gains Hammer of the Gods Level 9 - Our cleric gets Raise Dead, GMW is +3 Level 11 - Haste boots may be used; my Bardsong will also grant +2 AC
Summons played a vital part, as did clerical buffs, Mage Armor, and Barkskin. I never thought I'd be so grateful for such low equipment and levels, but this has been quite enjoyable and I think it's caused us all to view the module differently already. I can't wait to see what wonderful loot and challenges we'll find next week; stay tuned!

We're on track for tonight then! I'll arrive a bit early as before, to be sure people know we're doing it. Time to meet is 6PM Mountain, 8PM Eastern, 1AM GMT. Apologies to those in Europe who will have to stay up so late for this!
See you at the Temple of Tyr, brothers.

Second session complete, and it lived up to the wonder of the first. We first visited the Kobold Hill and Glade, then returned to town to get everyone bags of holding (we were really hurting for carrying space). After that, we spent quite a long time away from town, first in the beetle cave, then down into the crystal cave, and finally we all received our water-breathing rings. Notable loots were abundant; we were fortunate enough to find Arka's Guards, a level 9 pair of haste bracers, as well as a level 8 mind immunity ring (!!), an even lower-level level/ability drain immunity ring, a 3x/day rod of Silence, and get this - a lowbie shield that is IMMUNE to the Fireball spell! Oh, and our tank now sports a ring of 20/- DR electric, which was very handy against the mother beetle.
All around, 2 levels were gained, and I believe everyone is levels 6-7 now. Level 9 still beckons, though now we each carry a Raise Dead scroll, and I picked up a Resurrection scroll. For the most part, no one came near death, but during the beetle cave run I myself was ambushed by three beetles - the only casualty of the night.
Next week will probably find us plumbing the depths of the Underdark for mushrooms, and raiding the Nether Caves for easy experience and plenty of loot. We might visit the Arctic if people are up to it, and I'd personally like to see the inside of the Disciple's Tower; that would nearly complete our exploration of the areas west of town.

Sorry about this late notice; it has come to my attention that there is a Nessus run scheduled for Friday evening, and at least Stormchaser wishes to take part. Rather than make a last-ditch attempt to make sure everyone knows to be there, I'm postponing our little party's time - contingent on the event that all four of my teammates petition otherwise between now and then.
May Nessus fall in glorious fashion; see you all next week!
