Having had the fortune of participating in a smooth and fast rumble through Nessus last Sunday (see page 21 of the screenshot thread in Drunken Monk) I have to say this was an equally satisfying win, but for very different reasons.
As you can see from the character listing above, we had no cleric, and our druid did not have Frailty. To compensate, we had 2 mages, 2 bards and lots of tanks.
The first 2 maps were quite straightforward except we had a double Bueroza spawn in the Maze. We entered Serpent's Coil about 1.5 hours after starting the run, which I would consider to be average.
Serpent's Coil was slow but relatively unstressful, except for 2 different randoms, which we handled IMHO very well:
- a double brachina
- a paragon orthon
We had excellent spawning from Drunkenboaster, excellent focus on the tough mobs by the whole party, and our druid clouding, and our use of the clouds was extremely good.
The Asmo fight is where we were most challenged (as anyone would expect). Our only limbos from the run (3 total) were during the fight with the first form. Once we found our groove, however, we were unstoppable, if however slowly so. The boss fight lasted about 30 minutes, if I recall correctly, which may be the longest successful Asmo fight I have experienced.
For the record, nobody was dragged through this run, and everyone gave their all. In my experience, it is rare to find a party that is greater than the sum of it's parts, and this was truly one of them.
This will join the previous Sunday's Nessus run as one of my fondest memories of Higher Ground.
Congratulations to first time demigods:
- Draxx, Mile-0, Taliant and (?) Tempus (sorry, mate but I am not 100% certain. Plz correct me if necessary)
And big congratulations to Acaos for joining .... the few ... the proud ... the 5xD ;D
