If you have the necessary start up fee (even returning gold to the original contributers) what are the dues going toward? I have no problem doing a few more farm runs to raise the cash , I'm just curious. not {EtO}? It would keep the original middle-cross flavor you were going for. The dues go to the members who already paid, once everyone has their gold back we would have to make a decision. Either keep distributing the gold among the members at an even cut or save the gold up for buying items for the guild.... I bet we will do a little of both maybe... As for {EtO}... I dont know about the rest of you guys, but I can't say I really like it at all, and my brother doesn't either. If we can't use the † then I say just {EO}. -DragonLance_007

The fee goes toward the 500 million if costs for a guild hall and the rest will be redistributed back to the contributors.
Yea, i do like the {EtO} too.
All future guilders please decide which do u like better... 1. {EtO} 2. {EO} 3. post your ideas

I am gonna let the majority rule on the symbol because as my brother and I were brainstorming i didnt like the {EtO}, but I dont especially like {EO}. The more I look at them both the more I could live with either. I REALLY WANT {E†O} !!! That would be great if Funky gave the OK for it, but I dont want there to be problems down the road.

Are all special characters out? Or just alt characters? We could use the symbol above the "Enter" key on most keyboards: E|O or just E-O or E+O (may be the best - plus sign almost looks like a cross...almost) Barring any of these (or any other pseudo-symbols), while I don't necessarily like EO, EtO doesn't make much sense to me, since it is a 't', and not a cross, and while I get that it's ETernal, it doesn't make as much sense to me. I guess E (plus sign) O is my favorite (just to make this more complicated and throw another hat in the ring)... Darthann Baldazar {E+O} <<----my first Eternal Order toon As an aside-what kinds of things would potentially "break" using alt characters? If it's just YOUR toon, it might be worth a risk. If it's a server issue, or something else, better just to not risk it.

This is the suggestion I like the best so far.

I believe that only ALT codes are not a good idea for use in the guild symbol. My brother and I tried prolly 50 different cominations using the E+O, E|O, -=EO=-, <EO>, <<EO>>, <{EO}> and lots more. I cant say i like the + sign in it so much. Makes me think E plus O. As boring as {EO} is we gotta think about gameplay here. If a guild member is dead and needs to invite someone to rez them, then making the symbol easy to type would be a plus.

Plus will be one of the forbidden characters as of next update. It concatenates strings when it shouldn't. If you want to flag down a dm and test † that'd be fine, but well have to level a character through LL, test the market, bank, tags, etc, and then delete it afterward. Funky

I agree with you DL that the plus-sign doesn't look that great. And with Funky's comment, sounds like it's right out. I tried some other combos too, while I was making that post, and I really couldn't come up with anything I liked either. EO will just have to do. Which, really, is fine. It is, after all, just a name. And you know what they say about a rose by any other name...

Funky, again thanks for monitoring this and taking part in these posts.
Seems that there are only two functional guild symbols that will do. {EO} and {EtO} After speaking with my brother abit more and given all the information we have recieved we wanna go with {EtO} as our official guild symbol. If you have any obections please post them. We still have time before the guild begins.
My brother and I, and reelroleplayer think {EtO} is the best choice. What about the rest of you??

I personally don't care for it all that much, but I think that {EO} is....less gooder? So, and especially considering this is yours and DL's idea to start the guild, I bow to your preference. GREAT CHOICE!!!

I have to admit I keep going back and forth from {EO} to {EtO}. At first I didnt care for {EtO} at all and then for some reason it started growing on me But the thought I keep coming back to is that {EtO} really doesn't make sense. As my brother says, "It doesn't have to make sense." But I am the type of person that wants it to lmao. I don't think it HAS to make sense, but I think it SHOULD. Frankly, I think we should go with {EO}. It makes sense, its the classic NWN guild way, and I don't think it looks all that horrible. If I was someone who didn't know what it was when I saw it on someone's toon ingame, I would ask "Hey, what's EO mean?" And it would make sense when I got the answer that Eternal Order was their guild. But if I saw {EtO} and asked about it and got the same answer, I think I would feel my forehead crinkle up and ask myself, "Why in the hell is there a little "t" in there....". {EtO} just doesn't makes sense. Thats the only flaw with it that I see. I would still like the E and the O to be seperated by something, but for now I can't think of anything that screams out to me "That's IT!! That's the ONE!". Back to the drawing board I guess, or settle for {EO}. Opinions??? -DragonLance_007

That's the reason I'm not a fan of it DL - it just doesn't make as much sense. Well, we could always have someone test it with a DM, as Funky mentioned. Maybe the alt character is fine, and we're beating our heads for nothing. I think everyone agrees that {E†O} would be best. Another one I toyed with was {eTo}, but I don't care for it either. If someone could jump on when there's a DM and test this, that would be great. BTW - those that can't get alt characters to work properly, look at this: www.coloryourprofyle.com/phade/alt.html - it mentions that you can only use the numpad, not the numbers across the top of your keyboard. That's probably why. (I had to look it up too) BTW2 - the coolest would be {ˆÖ}

Here is another problem with {E†O}. Or any other combination using ALT codes... Say for example you are dead and you need to invite someone to your party and they have an ALT code in their name, and say for the sake of this example you know nothing of ALT codes (like most out there). You have to type /invite Character's Name with ALT code in it. That means you have to learn how to use alt codes in the very short time that you have before you auto-fugue. Its just not a good idea to put someone in that situation. For that problem alone I say ALT codes are out, regardless if they passed a DM testing. *sigh* -DragonLance_007

Well these minor things always get tough.
It's my understanding that hardcore players will put [HC] in their name and the guild supports a minor in hardcore play. So, what about [EO] as a symbol for symetry? Then if you make a hardcore character you would have a name in the form like:
[HC] Dragon Dog [EO]
Just an idea, or fuel for thought.

Ah, good point. Forgot about that. I guess {EO} gets my (somewhat reluctant) vote.
