Ran into a persistency issue with the languages storing on the Language Stones.
After each reset, the Stone "forgets" the languages learned from the trainer. I've had it properly set up from v1.0, did not see any changes to the setup, and imported the SIMTools 1.2 ERF over the top of the original installation. I then set the config file up from scratch, so pretty much every file got overwritten.
I am not sure if further changes were made to the NWNX2 files included, so that may be an issue (still using the same NWNX2 files from the 1.0 download).
If you can give any assistance in this issue, I've been attempting to sort the persistency issue for some time.
I've also got a teleportation system which I'll give over to you for integration into your tools. It worked off of the old DMFI "Voice", but since your chatlogger works wonderful, I suppose I can get rid of this "Voice" operation altogether.

The items will only store languages across resets if you are a PC (not a DM) on a servervault server. If you are testing with localvault or with a DM character they will not be saved, simply because that's how local ints work. If you intend to do local vault just switch over to the using NWNX option - that SHOULD work right out of the box, and will only use NWNX storing chat data - the rest of your persistant variables will still be handled however your system is set up to deal with them. Please LMK if that fixes your problem. Funky

I'm using a servervault setup currently, running NWNX2. With either the NWNX persistency on or off in the fky_config file, the language stones do not store variables across resets.
I've gotten this report from 34 players who have taken languages on my PW, so it affects players.

Are you using the default database that comes with NWNX, in the dll's from the Vault download page, or are you already a NWNX user with a different setup? In the latter case the system needs configuring, which I'll be happy to help with. Please post: 1) Your NWNX.ini file from the NWNX folder of your server (feel free to delete the database password from the post for security's sake) 2) Your NWNX log, the file titled nwnx_odbc.txt, from the logs.0 folder in your NWN folder.
These files will help me troubleshoot. Thanks, Funky

Bah, there's the problem: ! SQL Error: no such table: pwdata
My fault - the database table that is supposed to be there, isn't. That's easily rectified, by running aps_demo.mod configured for MySQL Lite. I completely forgot that was necessary to setup the tables. I'll add the table creation mechanism to the SIMTools_Test.mod later today. In the meantime, I'll give you links and exact instructions for the setup. It's easy, involving no more than running a different mod on your server long enough to login and click on a placeable to create the needed database table. I'll post the instructions after I verify the exact steps, in 10 minutes or so. Funky

Greatly appreciate it. Your system is pretty revolutionary, and I intend to use it to the fullest extent in Myth Drannor. I'd like to get with you later as well on having some of my people do some "grunt work" for you on adding a number of FR languages, more emotes, and so forth. I'm not a great coder, so when stuff gets advanced as your code does, I sometimes miss where to plug in data to add features. BioCode does not give me these problems.

Nevermind the above post, there's an easier solution. Put the following script on a placeable, in the onused event: // Name : Demo create table // Purpose : Create a table for persistent data // Authors : Ingmar Stieger // Modified : February 02, 2005
// This file is licensed under the terms of the // GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE (GPL) Version 2
#include "aps_include"
void main() { SQLExecDirect("DROP TABLE pwdata"); SendMessageToPC(GetLastUsedBy(), "Table 'pwdata' deleted.");
// For SQLite SendMessageToPC(GetLastUsedBy(), "Creating Table 'pwdata' for SQLite..."); SQLExecDirect("CREATE TABLE pwdata (" + "player varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "tag varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "name varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "val text," + "expire int(11) default NULL," + "last timestamp NOT NULL default current_timestamp," + "PRIMARY KEY (player,tag,name)" + ")");
// For MySQL /* SendMessageToPC(GetLastUsedBy(), "Creating Table 'pwdata' for MySQL..."); SQLExecDirect("CREATE TABLE pwdata (" + "player varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "tag varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "name varchar(64) NOT NULL default '~'," + "val text," + "expire int(11) default NULL," + "last timestamp NOT NULL default CURRENT_TIMESTAMP," + "PRIMARY KEY (player,tag,name)" + ") ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;"); */
// For Access /* SendMessageToPC(GetLastUsedBy(), "Creating Table 'pwdata' for Access..."); SQLExecDirect("CREATE TABLE pwdata (" + "player text(64)," + "tag text(64)," + "name text(64)," + "val memo," + "expire text(4)," + "last date)"); */
SendMessageToPC(GetLastUsedBy(), "Table 'pwdata' created."); }
Then click the placeable to create the table. From there on out the persistency will work fine. PLEASE NOTE, however, that if you or anyone else click the placeable a second time, the entire database will be destroyed and recreated from scratch. IT IS THREFORE ADVISABLE to either: 1) Put that placeable in a place where no one including DMs will touch it until you remove it after using it. Once you have clicked it once, it has done its work, and is nothing but a liability, so it should be removed. If you don't, your languages database info will be wiped whenever someone does click it - Bioware databases will be unaffected. 2) Put it in a new module, and run that mod on your server long enough to login and click the placeable once. Then go back to running your standard mod. Everything will work fine from that point on. If you choose to do this, you will need to import the aps_demo script from the SIMTools scripts, because the script above requires that include. Looking over the above, I realize this may seem a bit confusing, so I will attempt to summarize more clearly. The issue is that the database the server is looking for isn't there. The script above creates that database. It does not have to be run in the module you will be using the database for. It DOES have to be run on the machine your regular module is run on. It only has to be run once. Clicking the sign multiple times during the initial setup will have no adverse affect, nor any benfit - it deletes the table if it is there already and creates a new one. That is obviously not something you want happening once you put data in the table via the SIMTools scripts, however, so you should remove the placeable from the module once you have clicked it (option 1 above), or just put it in a seperate module (option 2 above) that is only run once. Either way, once you do this, you will never have to think about any of this again. Sorry for the omission in the instructions! LMK if you encounter any problems or have any questions. Best, Funky

As an alternative, you can download the odbc plugin from this page: www.nwnx.org/index.php?id=downloadIn it is the aps_demo.mod, which has a placable already set up to create the table you need, pwdata, as well as another table you dont (pwobjdata). The objdata table is intended to be used for item storage, and is completely unneeded for SIMTools to work. I will happily add any language sets your players may want to create, as they will not affect the scrip overhead in any significant way. If you want to show them demo languages, just crack open fky_chat_dmfi and copy one of the langage functions that list conversions for a-z and A-Z. Note that all the languages chop off the last letter intentionaly, I'm guesasing DMFI did that to help avoid metatranslations by nonspeakers. You might not want to do that for some languages, however, especially human dialects or other languages closely related to common. PS The reason that you didn't see a password is that there isn't one for the SQLite setup, only would've been there if you were running fullblownb MySQL - no need to dwell on it. Funky

Thanks, I'll create this tonight and get back with you if I run into any problems, but I expect I will not due to the error log.
My language guy is busy recreating the languages from the FRCS based off of the fky_chat_dmfi file right now, so we should be set with some 30 new languages. I'll send them over to you when I am done.

All right, ran the script from the placeable on the remote server. Everything worked and the pwdata table was set up.
Then re-loaded the PW module. Gave out languages. Crash happened some 16 hours later and languages still not persistent.
Here's the nwn_odbc.txt stuff:

How are you handing out languages? Also please post your fully fky_chat_config script so I can verify the settings. What I need is a log showing checks for languages. To get that, you would have to copy the odbc log while the server is running, or before it resets - NWNX logs clear automatically after reset. In particular, look for lines that look similar to this one: "SELECT name, val FROM pwdata WHERE player = '"+sSQLPlayername+"' AND tag = '"+sSQLName+"' AND name LIKE 'FKY_CHAT_LANG%';"; I almost suspect that you have USING_NWNX_DB turned off, and that the log you posted is old. Anyway, post a log from after the server has been up a few hours, as well as your current config script so I can see the settings, and we'll get you sorted out. Funky
