Never played the Tin Can so I don't know anything about that build other than the obvious disadvantage of not having that 100% fire immunity 10 levels of RDD gives you. If you want a STR build though, this DD is a very easy build to play with. With the right gear, she's pretty much physical immune. You're main worry will just be getting the right combination of gear together for the elemental damage, which isn't too hard with a couple of shields and some 75/50 rings. Jenna

10 RDD levels also gives you +8 to str, +2 to int, const and charisma too. Not to mention +4 to ac.

I have a DD which is similar to the Tin Can build. I did choose a str-2 subrace so mine has a bit less ab and DR than the arctic dwarf one (though 80 more hp, an extra 5% elemental immunity, and no lev or water rings required). The 100% fire immunity is helpful as is looking at almost 1400hp at level 60. It looks like this build will have better reflex saves than the tin can, but with the tin can having a final number in the high 50s this doesn't seem critical -- having all saves over 55 is a nice feature. It's one you'll appreciate when the ssithrak mages decide they want to mass meteor swarms or the dragons blow stinky breath at you. Tin can wearing penum plate and pentavite shield is 126 or 130 with epic cleric buff. There's no conceal so you'll still get stoned occasionally even with that reflex save, but most places that are hell on non-dex builds aren't so bad with this one. I think this build will have 4 lower AC (RDD difference), but that's still decent. One concern on the tin can build is that you do give up WM criticals, so damage output won't be stellar. I've partied with a monk based WM DD using scimitar and his ab is higher as is his damage output vs. non-critical immune mobs. If you do end up with a 78 ab at level 60 with +13 GMW, that's plenty high enough (and surprisingly high given the low str). WM crits plus the higher ab should yield decent damage output.

This Dwarf of Steel also loses +4 ac from tumble as as it is taken as cross-class skill.

In fact its only +2 ac as you can keep taking it cross class up until 60 but it will cost you 60 points vs the 40 for the Bard.

Currently working on a similar build to this, but:
6 Fighter/18 DD/16 WM
I figure you get +2 to AB and don't really sacrifice much from the DD side other than 6 pts of resistance and some more damage from Defensive weave. I am not done with the char yet, but interested in anybody sees something I am missing.
In game: Pill (Cheese Sorc) Rill (13 rogue/27 AA) Till (F/DD/WM) Xill (dexer WM)

I'm actaully lvling one of these up at the moment. Good times. My experiences at the lower levels are that nothing can kill you when you have something that has -10 slashing for tower - temple stuff, damage output is ok, but you can tank everything for the mages.

Been a bit since I have posted an update on my 'Dwarf of steel. Just wanted to let u know, Jenna, I die alot in the desert (keep forgetting that damned lev ring...j/j) My saves r not the gr8est in the world so i get imploded alot, and stoned. Not as much now at lvl 44 as I did at 40, but still. Anyway, wanted to let u know that due to a rather favorable trade i made recently, I have acquired the Battlerager subby, and plan on re-building this toon immediately. Aeternus BTW T good side is that I take almost 0 phys dmg as of now!!!

Yeah. I also got imploded a fair bit too at low levels..until I got my Penumbrum plate. Get your hands on one of those asap if you are gonna do desert runs. It is very nice to see 0 phys damage isn't it Jenna btw - I'm soooo jealous. Been waiting for a battlerager subby so I can make a super Dwarf of steel! lol

Well, with dex, there would be some dramatic changes to feats since your going for conceal so I'll let someone else build that one. As far as AB. You're looking at 40 levels of Full AB class. So: 30 (full AB) 1 (level 5 WM) 6 (from 24 str) 6 (str enh items) ===> 42 + 3 from focuses +1 prowess ===> 46 AB at level 40 Add in some GMWs at +10 and you have 66 AB at level 40. figure another 9 points to AB from stats/feats by 60 you should be at 75AB (including +10 GMW). Jenna (hope I calculated that correctly ) The part you say add in some gmws and you get 66 from 46, are you saying that you can get two gmw?

I have a modification of this build using howler.... I'll post details as soon as I level it up a little more.... So far it's a tough little beast.
I have a question:
Does DD conceal bonus max out at 20%? It doesn't say so in the book. It says natural AC does but that is to be expected.
