I have been asked the details of my salamander paladin a few times, so I figure I would post it. Although I did use a burr race for the build, a burr race is by no means required to make it work. It does require a secret or better though due to the need of the only ability that can be left weak is dex.

Notes On the build
Weapon choice should be one that has divine and magic exotics because divine might and divine favor spell add to those damages. I found longsword and scimitar were good choices.
Because of the high charisma, saving throws with top gear at 60 are fort 74 will 69 reflex 67.
High charisma also gives the following perks
+20 divine damage from divine might
20% divine damage resistance from divine shield
30+d6 divine kb damage from divine sheild
20% posi resist from aura of glory spell
10% phys resist from aura of glory spell
Because of the lower strength for a strength tank, taunt is sometimes required. But with the high charisam and ESF, 93 and 10 from an item is almost always enough to taunt most. Quick slotting the immo ring that gives +20 taunt and prayer spell that gives +3 to your roll and -3 to theirs, pretty much ensures success.
Extend spell is essential as a paladin. Divine favor, prayer, and defening clang almost require extend to be be effective.
With the high UMD, dachy staves are useable when a 60 skill level is reached. Although the duration is a little short for continued use, it sure makes those tough battles a lot easier.
The paladin secret guardian angel is so good. I have been the puller in a lot of harder runs and it has saved my skin a few times when bad luck has happened at the evil 1 save happens.
The other secret mass raise is also very handy and has saved a couple runs where I was the last standing due to the guardian angel.
Notes for other sunbraces
I would try to avoid lowering the con. I found the 16, 18 after rdd bonuses, not enough in my first version of the build. The extra 180 hp that the 24 con gives allows that extra second to drink a heal when things get ugly.
If an extra epic feat like armor skin is needed, I'ld drop LL enchant over ESF Taunt. With a base 83 and +10 from an item I found it not enough to taunt anything that required taunting.
One subrace I tired to make this build with was a treant, which worked out great on paper. But I found when I used the way of the willow to shrink down to navigate the small areas I would loose my combat animation. I did not like seeing no swing when I was fighting.
Charisma if you plan on lowering it, I would do it in multiples of 4. Reason behind that is the sweet physical immunity from aura of glory is 1% for every 2 charisma bonus.
