Basics: By 20 16/4 Rogue/Fighter
By 40 29/6/5 Rogue/Fighter/HarperScout
Subrace: Kobold (There is definitely a better sub than this one out there, and I am positive those who love to use BURs would replace this with ½ fiend, if they use this build anyway)
Stats: Base (With Sub modifiers) In order Str/Dex/Con/Int/Wis/Cha
14 (12)
16 (18)
14 (14)
14 (14)
8 (8)
10 (100), (whoops, almost a typo.)
Skills to take at first. 4 in : Appraise, Disarm Trap, Open lock, Search(+2 bonus with current sub), Persuade, Lore, Tumble, Hide, Move silently, UMD. (should get 11 skills with 14 int and human base bonus.)
Level progression, unless otherwise noted, on rogue levels, put points into Appraise, Disarm, Open lock, Search, Tumble, Hide, Move silently, and UMD, and save the rest. Put points into lore and persuade as required for Harper Scout.
1: Rogue, Take Dodge and Point Blank Shot (Human bonus included, may need to tamper if not taking kobold)
2: Rogue
3: Rogue, Focus Crossbow (Either one). Stop taking Lore after this level.
4: Rogue,
5: Rogue, Stop taking Persuade after this level.
6: Rogue, Rapid Reload
7: Rogue
8: Rogue,
9: Rogue, Blind Fight
10: Rogue, Impr Evasion
11: Rogue
12: Rogue, Impr Crit Crossbow (Hopefully the same crossbow you focused with.)
13: Rogue, Defensive Roll
14: Rogue
15: Rogue, Iron Will
16: Fighter, Weapon Finesse (In case you are forced into melee), Max Discipline and save rest.
17: Rogue, Crippling Strike(Or Slippery Mind) , Resume standard Skill Progression
18: Fighter, Max Disc, Save rest. Alertness and Mobility(Maybe Called shot?)
19: Fighter
20: Fighter, Specialization Crossbow.
21: Harper, Take Appraise, Disc, Hide, MS, and Tumble, and Pickpocket, should work out. Take G-dexes 1 and 2
22: Harper,
23: Harper,
24: Harper, Epic Dodge
25: Harper, G-Dex 3
26: Rogue, Resume standard skill progression.
27: Rogue, EWF Crossbow
28: Rogue, Impr Sneak attack 1. (Note, from here on in, the choice of feats between ISR, G-Dex, and SC, is not an easy pick, choose wisely)
29: Rogue
30: Fighter, Max Disc, Save rest. Epic Weapon Specialization, Crossbow
31: Rogue
32: Rogue
33: Rogue, G-Dex 4 (Note, with Kobold, you should be able to get SC now, if you take another sub, you might get this earlier.)
34: Rogue, SC 1
35: Rogue
36: Rogue, SC 2
37: Rogue
38: Rogue, SC 3
39: Rogue, SC 4, (IMPORTANT!, Save EXACTLY 5 Skill points to maximize discipline, may adjust if not using base INT or race.)
40: Fighter, Max Discipline, Armor Skin. (Or epic Prowess)
With all available Stat points, put into DEX, I don’t have the 41-60 exactly worked out, but here is something I came up with.
42: SC 5
45: Epic Prowess
48: G-Dex or IMPR sneak
51: G-Dex or IMPR sneak
54: G-Dex or IMPR sneak
57: G-Dex or IMPR sneak
60: G-Dex or IMPR sneak
Be sure to take an Even amount of G-Dexes to even the stat out at 60.
Statistics:
BAB by 20 : 16 BAB by 40 : 26
AB(Unequipped at 40): 40
AC(Unequipped at 40): 31
Saves:(Unequipped at 40): 21/32/17 (Fort/Ref/Will)
Notable Strengths…
1: Provides for all standard rogue based picking locks and disarming traps, which is nice.
2: With the HS bonus and the standard crossbow bonus, combined with the 4 standard and the haste bonus, this character should get 9 attacks and if worked correctly, its 9 16d6 sneak attacks, which is nice.
Problems….
1: Sneak immune enemies and critical immune enemies are hard to hurt with this character, Divine Pings are still nice, but aren’t marauders on their own, still, 9 of them a round….
2: Can be difficult if the Harper secret location is not known….
Please post possible improvements to the build if you would like, I would appreciate any positive tweaking of this character, for all possible effectiveness.
Thanks.
