The only reason anyone should go 30 assassin is to get dev crit. And for it to be any use at all you NEED to have the highest dex/str possible as well as extended crit range weapon like rapier, kukri, or scimitar. For a dex assassin using a non-secret race, I would take derrzagon, leave str at 8, start dex at 20, and max it with every ability point you get. With the extra stat points from not putting anything into str and from the int bonus, you can also get wisdom up to 12 for up to +7 AC when not using a shield, and you can also get con up to 16 (180 HP by 60). Another benefit of derrzagon is you can multiclass fighter levels without an XP penalty. A good alternate secret subrace would be tiefling dwarf or human, or even halfling if you can spare the feat for exotic weapon prof and dont mind an XP penalty.

Here's a catchy name: Death Monk. Nice build, but I have a couple of suggestions\questions: 1)I agree with yue about making it a Dex char and to buff Wis a bit but keep in mind when monks use a shield that they loose their Wis bonus and their +4 boost to armor class (is it only +2 at 10 levels?) and also they loose their fast movement which is the coolest part about the monk! 2)Don't you need at least one level of rouge to open locks and traps above a certain DC? you may want to consider that as a third class.

Yes, you need a Rogue level to open locks/traps above DC 35, which is why most Assassin builds include Rogue.
Since you don't need to invest much in Disable Traps, Open Locks, or Search, you can short your Int down to 8 and put it into Con. I'm also not sure why you put points into Cha, so I'd move those to Wis.
I'm also not thrilled with Overwhelming Critical, so I'd drop Power Attack, Great Cleave, and Overwhelming Critical in favor of Ambidexterity, Imp Two Weapon Fighting, and Blind Fight or Toughness.
It also looks like there are two open feats at 6 and 15, so Toughness should definitely be one of them.

I see what you are saying about a different weapon Yue. Makes Sense. I choose the Kama since monk's get bonuses, however I wasn't sure how much that would even help with only 10 levels of monk.
The reason for leveling up strength in the beginning is to get Overwhelming Critical (lvl 21) then switching to Dex for Devastating Critical by lvl 40 (only needing 9 dex from items). Does the Devastating Critical on this Server overwrite overwhelming critical? I thought it had to be "applied" to a weapon, so my thinking was (and it could be wrong) that if you didn't have time to apply it to the weapon the Overwhelming critical would kick in.
As for dex, I thought wisdom only helped AC if you were a strength based character?
According to the sign at the docks, you can get Devastating critical on HG with either 42 dex or 42 str. I agree with both of you about going dex (most of my other characters are dex based, and I like them alot) but is there any benefit to going all strength?
As for your questions Dannecrot about 1 rogue level for open locks, I am not sure. I am relatively new to this game but I figured since open locks/disable traps was a class skill for assassin that they would get the same bonuses as rogues. I will look into that though and see what I can find out.
Thanks for the advice all and keep it coming! This is the first build I have actually done from scratch so any help is appreciated.

You get the extra attacks with kamas with any number of Monk levels. I have found hitting hard (like critical hits) is better than hitting often, but you should try both ways to see what you prefer. Overwhelming Critical is not related to Dev Crit, and you can have both on a given weapon. Over Crit is extra damage, and it is nice for Str builds, but not at the cost of so many feats and stat points. Going all Str gives you better damage, and access to better armor and shields, but that ruins the point of using Monk as a launching point.
You add your Wis bonus to AC as long as you don't have [non-robe] armor or a shield. My comment on it in the other thread was to favor Wis AC on a Str build, because you don't lose that bonus while flat-footed. (Without Uncanny Dodge, you lose your Dex bonus.) Assassin gives you Uncanny Dodge, so that's irrelevant here.

Whenever it hits, it rolls again, and if THAT roll is a hit, and is in the critical threat range, whoever it hit must roll a fortitude save vs. a DC of 20 + the assassin's DEX or STR modifier (whichever is higher) + 1 for every 2.5 Legendary Levels the character has..
The DC of your devastating critical is directly related to how high your dex or str is. You want it to be as high as possible in order for it to be useful at all.

Thanks for all the input. I am going to redo this character and post an update, hopefully soon.
Does move silently or hide have any use on this server other then requirements for prestige classes? I think it helps my SD hide in plain site but does it affect your sneak/death attack or attacks of opportunities or anything like that?
How about pick pocket? I have heard of some people using it to grab heal potions off mobs but was wondering how well this worked at higher levels (or even if its necessary)
Thanks.

Hide/MS is used for some prestige classes and Self-Concealment. Long-term, pretty much everything has True Seeing, so its value is limited in gameplay.

Pick pocket is very useful in a few areas to reduce the amount of time it takes to neutralise mobs (1/2 to 1/3 the time) but after that its pretty much useless (unless of course you're going to pp other people?). If you have spare skill points, don't mind going toe to toe with the enemy and have a class that lets you take pp as a primary skill I'd say take it (to about 40 points as I can't be bothered to figure out the minimum you need) and it will make certain runs much less tedious and give you a handy supply of useful items.

The DC against hostiles is 30, so a dexer can stop pretty quickly and their dex bonus will fill in the rest.

Thanks for the info, now I've got to figure out what to spend the spare skill points on.

There's almost no way to get around the fact that you're going to want Weapon Master in a Dev Crit build, 10% is a huge boost in crits, so a 10 monk build isn't desirable.
Actually, concerning kama vs other.
While a Kama can only get 16-20, or 25%, vs 55% of a 18-20 weapon (10-20), it can obtain 10 attacks per round with offhand. 6 normal attacks w/ 16 BAB pre lvl 20 (Needs a fighter class... *cough WM cough*) 2 offhand 1 hase 1 flurry
With any other weapons, you can only achieve 4 with 16, 2 offhand, and 1 haste...
Also, to further display the "importance" of the huge number of attacks.
7-9 attacks gives you 3 attacks if you attack first, 10 gives 4... thats 4 death attacks, giving you, statistically, 20% chance to paralyze a target. If you do paralyze them, your target is techincally dead, as they have 30 turns (ie 30 minutes) of paralysis, given they have survived any crits. Not to mention, that's 4 attempts to dev crit before they get a single action... and even if they save and you crit, the overwhelming and sneak attack damage should cut them down.

Keep in mind that death attack only paralyses if the target is not doing anything at all. They have to be just standing there.

That explains a LOT. Like why so far with my assassin I've only ever paralyzed 2 people. Do you say this from experience? or did you read it somewhere?
