Deceitful Brute
(6 bard/ 4 RDD/ 30 assassin)
Assassins and rangers occupy a special position in HG; they are the only playable characters who can deal instant killing blow to a monster. The ways how they do it are quite different: rangers can kill only their favorite enemies, need first "mark" the target and then they have limited time to land the hit. On the contrary, assassins are able to kill any monster as long as it is not immune to critical hits, they do not need to perform any special action (the Mortal Strike is tied to critical hits) and attempt to inflict instant death every time they roll a crit.
There are generally two ways to play an assassin - strength and dexterity based. This build describes a str based assassin that has got one great advantage over dexers: considerable damage output even when the Mortal Strike does not occur.
Why bard? Bard or sorcerer is required for becoming a RDD. Bards have access to Hide and Move Silently skills which you need to become an assassin. Bard will allow you to short-term buff with some spells including Bull´s Strength, Cat´s grace and Mage Armor, all of which can prove helpful in the early levels.
Why RDD? 4 levels of any dragon disciple will give you 4 bonus strength, 1 more AC and 10 percent immunity to element of your dragon´s color, that cannot be lowered.
Once you have reached character level 30 (or assa level 20), you should start looking for something that will allow you to "hone" your weapon so that you can deal the lethal blows. You can acquire it any time after lvl 30, but the sooner you get it, the better.

Feats: Bullheaded, Half-orc bonus feats: Blooded, Toughness
Skills: Maximize: Discipline, Hide, Move Silently, Lore, Tumble
Bullheaded is an investment feat that will allow you to take Discipline as class skills (once you attain the Legendary Skill Affinity Discipline feat). It is important that you save skill points to later dump into this skill at level 20 and level 43 when Discipline becomes a class skill. Also it improves your Will save by 1 which is definitely welcome.
Toughness is an important feat which will grant you additional 60 HPs. There are lots of unavoidable damage in HG and high HPs will help keep you alive. You do not have to worry about it however, because Half-orcs get Toughness for free.
Blooded is not very important feat for this build as for others. Usually it allows you to take Tumble in legendary levels as class skill (after Legendary Skill Affinity: Tumble), but Tumble is already a class skill for assassins. Blooded will still grant you 2 to initiative checks (which is useful for example when you need to drink a healing potion before they hit you again) and 2 to Spot skill (which will make robbing you more difficult).

Craft Armor (63); every 40 points of this skill will grant you +1 AC, so with gear adding intelligence, +skills or bard song you should get +2
Discipline (63) is very important in HG, because there are many discipline checks, resisting them will sometimes save your money, sometimes your life.
Hide (63) directly affects your concealment from Improved Invisibility, the more concealment, the less hits will land on you even when enemies overcome your AC
Tumble (55); for every 5 base ranks in Tumble you will receive 1 AC. This bonus is capped at 12. From 55 ranks in Tumble you will therefore get 11 AC and the last point comes from your RDD levels; anything above 55 would be useless for you.
UMD (52) is useful skill, because it allows you to read magic scrolls. 33 UMD is required to read lvl 9 spell scrolls, you will also be able to use some other gear you would normally not be able to.

DC of Mortal/ Penetrating Strike: 55 (=20 base + 8 assassin levels + 27 strength mod)
