Below is my attempt at designing a hells-ready battle cleric using the minotaur subrace. This race has one huge disadvantage: terrible charisma. Therefore this build emphasizes strength and dumps charisma, taking Champion of Torm Levels instead of the usual Paladin levels. The build is otherwise similar to other Fallen Angel battle cleric builds.
This build should be suitable for newer players who can probably find a minotaur book easily, but a fallen angel book not quite so much. If I've done the math right, AB tops out at 94 without artifact or craft weapon factored in. Saves end at 58/58/59, which may be a small weak point - a saves artifact is recommended.
This build could also be done using a more typical paladin build. If this were done I would decrease strength by 3 to increase charisma by 4. Feats would also be moved about a bit. Final saves would become 61/58/62, but final strength and AB would suffer by 2 points. Using CoT also allows you not to have to worry about getting charisma-boosting items.
Comments are welcome! I'd like to see what might be done to improve the build.
Starting Race:
"Minotaur" (secret; changes Appearance)
- FC: Fighter / BC: Cleric
- STR +4, DEX -2, WIS +2, CHA -4, free feat: Power Attack, increases character size to large, speaks Minotaur
Starting stats:
Str 15 (19)
Dex 8 (6)
Con 14
Int 14
Wis 16 (18)
Char 8 (4)
Stat points: All strength
Domains: Trickery, Fire (For Improved Invisibility, Wall of Stone, and Energy Buffer)
Level 1 Feats:
Blooded (for LSA tumble)
Bullheaded (for LSA discipline)
Pre-Epic Feats:
Exotic Weapon Proficiency
Weapon Focus (Scythe)
Lightning Reflexes
Toughness
Extend Spell
Spell Focus (Enchantment)
CoT Bonus: Blind fight
CoT Bonus: Imp Crit (Scythe)
Epic Feats:
Great Strength (1-5)
Epic Prowess
Epic Weapon Focus (Weapon of Choice)
Epic Cleric Bonus Feats:
Great Wisdom 1-2
Greater Spell Focus (Enchantment)
Epic Spell Focus (Enchantment)
Armor Skin
Legendary Feats:
Legendary Spell Focus (Divination)
Legendary Weapon Focus (Scythe)
Legendary Reflexes
LSA Tumble
LSA Discipline
Great Strength 6-7
Additional Feats gained through items:
Tome: Epic Spell Focus (Divination)
Pandect: Summoning
Skills by priority:
Concentration
Tumble
Discipline
Heal
Craft Weapon
Craft Armor (will not be able to max these last 3 skills. Balance to taste.)
Advantages over typical battle cleric builds:
Higher strength means hitting more often and doing more damage
Minotaurs bonus class: cleric means faster leveling, and compensates for the experience penalty at legendary levels.
No need for charisma-boosting items.
Disadvantages:
No charisma! This means no turn undead, no paladin levels for better saving throws, and no Divine Might.
