Entries from the journal of Borian, Captain of the Ascension Militia:
Elrawiel came to me today asking for help in retrieving an item from her brother, Luytuns. She could not do this herself as Luytuns had gone mad with power some time ago and began referring to himself as the Corpse Lord. I informed her that there are no doubt plenty of willing adventurers in the town due to the Crown, so she should have no trouble finding someone capable of fulfilling her request.
-------------------------------
Some adventurers brought back the item Elrawiel was seeking, but a different group of adventurers was brought to me unconscious after having appeared at the Rowan Tree. They had apparently encountered the Corpse Lord and fell in battle. However, they brought back with them a journal detailing the experiences of the Corpse Lord as he descended into his current state of madness.
The final entry indicates he is preparing an army of undead in order to attack Ascension! It gives no clues as to where this army could be, as none of the adventurers that returned could recall seeing such an army in the Corpse Lord's Tower. He has to be mustering this army somewhere, but I have not the slightest clue of where to look. I shall have to enlist the aid of some adventurers myself; with a possible attack on the horizon, I cannot afford to spare any of the Militia from the town's defense in order to search the surrounding areas.
-------------------------------
I ran into Kurchin, a kobold that was among the original fated group of adventurers to face the Corpse Lord in battle. With the help of new adventurers Caelee, Tauron, and a third whose name I did not get before they left, I asked of them to search the surrounding areas for any evidence of the Corpse Lord's Army.
Kurchin returned to me apart from the other adventurers to recite a tale of how they encountered the Corpse Lord and his army, in the very crypts below Ascension! The Corpse Lord escaped, but he is of secondary concern. I sent Kurchin to the sage to see if he could find a way back to the other adventurers. It must have worked, as the adventurers thankfully returned safely not long after Kurchin left. With the location of the Corpse Lord's army discovered, I can concentrate the Militia's efforts on eliminating what remains of this army so that we can turn our focus to assaulting the Corpse Lord's Tower and put an end to this wretch!
