I have the giant portrait pack from HG wiki wiki.hgweb.org/wiki/Client_Changesbut when I come to create a female charcter it crashes to desktop after I click on the appearance button (but before it loads the pictures). I have no problems when making a male character and i already tried reinstalling the pack - any ideas anyone?

You may need to delete some portraits, especially if you already had your own portrait collection. There's a limit to the number you can have in your portrait folder.

Did you count all 5 sizes of the same portrait, or 10000 came out with counting only the portraits?

I have simply installed the 'HG Giant Portrait Thingy' from hgwiki. wiki.hgweb.org/wiki/Client_Changes#Portrait_and_Voice_PacksThe protrait folder has 10108 and there isnt any folder within the portraits folder. I tried reinstalling it but still no joy. It's very frustrating. Edit: I have just tried the old trick of selecting 'male' and the portrait then changing the gender back to female afterwards; this seems to have worked.

You just have too many portraits for your computer to handle. You'll need to delete some you don't like.

Why then, does it work with males and not females? I will try and delete some, but it's a very tedious process. :/

Acaos I have 10.114 files in my portraits folder and i have no problem doing a male/female toon, except that it takes around 30 seconds to load all portraits the first time. Also ogg , did you try to create a female toon without any custom portrait in that folder? if its an original nwn file damaged you would still have the problem during the toon's creation. 0.2 Jonuhey Edit: what is your pc ogg? RAM, Hd, processor, etc...?

AMD athlon 64 x2 duel processor 5200+ 2.71 GHz 2GB RAM 5GB hard disk NVidia GeForce 8600 GT
I also have a 20-30 second delay, but would think my computer could handle the portraits. I'll try the original portraits now...

Thats not enough to install nwn with all goodies lol, my nwn folder has 9,5 GB. Also, I guess your pc can handle the load of the portraits, it might be something damaged somwhere. (not that this helps a lot hehe)

Just to update - I deleted a load of portraits, mostly females (I now have 8000) and I can now make female toons once more. Thanks to all for their help.
