I've been wanting a Minotaur character since I joined this server, and now that I've obtained the subrace, it seems like a pretty good opportunity. I wanted something that could be useful to the entire party through use of spells and could hold it's own in combat. This tinyurl.com/26l2xv build seems to fit the bill fairly well and I've tried it out in the test area and it's a lot of fun on the spell side. As far as melee goes though it's fairly lousy. It's nearly not worth making this post considering how close my build will be to that one, but I'm fairly new to this server and have some questions regarding epic spells, other feats and attack bonuses.
First off, I had meant this character to be of some use in melee, but upon reaching level 40 in the test area I'm beginning to doubt that this will happen with it's crap attack bonus. At higher levels I was thinking of putting a couple of points in constitution to increase my longetivity somewhat, although I don't know if this will help at all. Various spells and feats (improved crit at level 39) are going to aid me a fair bit in combat, but I'm still wondering if maybe I should I just give up on any hopes I have of being decent in melee and dump the points in Wisdom?
I've never played a cleric before and so I need a bit of filling in on how epic spells work and which are the best. At epic levels I think I'll get Hellball and Greater Ruin, the other two don't look like a lot of use. At legendary levels I can't decide over which spells to get. Obviously Aegis is going to be invaluable in many of the later runs, but Instruments of Faith (16+ weapons) sounds fairly awesome too. Annihilation could be a lot of fun too. Maybe if I have enough feats at legendary levels would I be able to take all the spell focuses in two schools to get two of them? Also regarding the effectiveness of spells, what base wisdom should I be aiming for at level 40?
Something else I'm split over is silent spell. Having to memorize spells in advance to use when deafened sounds fairly annoying, and I get a funny feeling I'll neglect it and let it go to waste. Is silent spell that important in the game? And if so, is taking automatic silent spell (I-III) worth it? Another feat I'm unsure about is Improved Combat Casting, is it worth it?
