Hi there! I'm posting this on behalf of my old man, since he's not really into computers except nwn. Now he's got some wierd issues, it seems that since the servers moved/reorganized, he can't stay on for longer than 2 minutes. At first he was able to stay online for a while on the 3-x servers, but since a few weeks back, it's all unplayable. He also bought a new computer at the same time, so I figured that was the problem. But now I've literally tried everything in my power to get it to work, but it just wont run. I've tried different operating systems, drivers, reinstalling, running without HG Enhanced, removed firewalls, opened every port possible and more. So now I figured I'd ask you for some help, since otherwise he'll just have to stop playing. I did a traceroute(Note that he lives in Sweden) but I got told that's not going to work due to firewalls by Funky. He also suggested it might have something to do with a bad router or wifi drivers. But he's not running wireless and the router has been working just fine until recently. I'm up for trying anything at this point, but I'm leaving tomorrow and my old man really isn't capable to do more advanced tweaking. So fast responses are appriciated Thank you in andvance.

Did you try connecting his computer directly with a cable to the router? That'd be the first thing I'd try.

Actually I tried with an old junk router and just using the othe rone for my sisters wireless and so far so good. I'm just amazed that it's actually the router, it really should not have this kind of impact o.O Especially since it worked before the move. Anyway, it seems to have solved the problem, so you may disregard this thread

I had this same problem a while ago. a firmware upgrade on the router fixed it up.

had a similar problem once. turned out the new network interface card on a pc supported full duplex (the old one didn't) and while the router claimed to be to be up to it too, it wasn't. disabling full duplex on the nic's side worked, but then that only fixed the symptom and not the real problem, the obsolete router. router firmware would probably have been worth a try, but it died soon afterward anyway.
this problem looks similar. two generations of hardware components and the old one not entirely understanding what the new one wants.

I had a D-Link DI-624 router that worked without any issues for a few years. Then it just got flaky as heck, rebooting itself 1 - 10 times a day. I found on forums some other people having similar problems, with varying degrees of success at fixing the problem. I tried most of the methods that might have helped a few others, but most seemed to think it was a hardware issue (that is, once it starts happening on your router, it's toast -- D-Link denied there was any issue at all so that was no help). It was random enough that I tried to put off replacing it, but finally when it started seriously interfering with work I gave in.
I solved the problem by buying an Asus WL-520GU and putting DD-WRT on it. No more dropped connections, no more router reboots. My ssh windows stay connected for days like they're supposed to.
