Quick question, I didn't think it was worth a whole thread on its own....... The new Power Critical adds 4 to 'critical confirmation rolls' Overwhelming Crit adds 1 to 'critical hit threat range' Are these confirmation rolls and threat ranges the same? Here's how a critical hit happens: You roll a d20 (we'll call the result X) and add your AB. If the result is equal to or greater than the creature's AC and X is within your threat range (which is the '17-20' part of '17-20/x2'), then you 'threaten' a critical. When you threaten a critical, it must be confirmed. You roll another d20 (let's call that Y) and add your AB again. The result must be equal to or greater than your target's AC, and a natural 20 on this roll does NOT confirm a critical if it's not sufficient to hit your target. Power Critical adds 4 to Y, and Superior Critical adds another 6 to Y (for a total of +10 to Y). Acaos Thanks Acaos.....I did not know about that second roll of the dice......still learning about the basics after all these years. I thought there must be something I was missing as +10 to the threat roll seemed OTT to say the least!

Aha, probably not that many other Whisper Gnome assassins around seeing as most normal folks convert them to Brownies or another suitable BUR race when they can. Please try to convert again and let me know if it doesn't work. I hotpatched this last evening. Acaos I just tried this on server 311 (up 30 minutes) and 111 (up 3 hours and change), and got the message about "You took club feats before you had the feat to use this CEP weapon". My toon is a Whisper Gnome assassin, and I believe I took Weapon Focus Club on level 3 (prior to any assassin levels). Was this something I'll need to reincarnate to fix, or was the hotpatch supposed to allow the !charedit to work for Whisper Gnome assassin's? -db

The hotpatch fixed Chainlink's issue, where Whisper Gnomes could never use it. If you took your Club feat before you took your first Assassin level, you'll need to reincarnate to fix that. If you have a Hardcore character (and ONLY a hardcore character) I can look and see if your feats can be shuffled to let you use !charedit. Acaos

I don't get online as much as I'd like at the minute so my testing would be sporadic to put it mildly.

Acaos Just to confirm a brief conversation I had with newly minted Guide Murphys/Phandal yesterday: the Power Crit feats don't affect whether an assassin using her honed weapon makes a mortal strike, right? As I understand it, the mortal strike script is kind of like a crit (i.e., it is affected by your weapon's crit range), but isn't exactly a crit. Thanks for the excellent update!

the respective weapons (lvl 29, 35 and so on) of mercurial greatsword and such are in the game yet, aren't they?

what are the formulas on the new KD and disarm checks? i was KDing ghouls in bonehorde with a level 36 halfling 2hander. i used the normal KD i got from an item. my ab is 53ish, but the KD check was 65! does it add double strength bonus?
also, my wisbased disarmer had quite a good time disarming bandits on east road, also, this time with a disarm check that was about 2 times his AB XD

ah, that will explain the 13 points difference: i was using a level 35 weapon.
also, are weapon size bonuses still included for disarm?

what? but that means a pixie with a dagger would be as good at disarming a pitfiend as a troll with a mercurial greatsword!
