To our more Savvy proboards users:

I am trying to embed a google docs spreadsheet into a proboards post.

Had no issues on other forums.

The code is: [gsheet width=850 height=650]0AuCIjujdOlaKdFdQWmpfYkFNZ1gtRFo1NHBfWHhOYWc[/gsheet]

also is there a way of embedding photobucket slide shows into posts?

I am not sure this board has that function.

Hi guys, can anyone explain to me how one can get a google sheet embeded in a Pro Board forum? I simply cannot make it work in my forum, but yet here I see it displayed. Tried copying the code on this OP to my forum but still nothing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

most of the time the problem is the name of the link from google. If you have in the name underscores it tends to not get displayed correctly. The only way for me to fix that was by deleting and reuploading the file to google. That way google generats a new weblink/name.

A link to a shared file from google looks like this https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B29yJo0dYb8Gy04Y3M/edit?usp=sharing

Now you just take the part after file/d/.... till the next / and put it in the gsheet tags like below

[gshet]0B29yJo0dYb8Gy04Y3M[/gsheet]

If the name is something like 0B29yJ_o0dYb8Gy04Y3M it tends to not work correctly with proboards.

P.S.: the missing e in [gshet] is a deliberate misspelling on my part, because otherwise it tries to show the file instead of the code as intended.

Hi Paradoom, the sheet I was trying to embed had the underscore in the code, so I made a copy of it, and the code now is clear of underscores. Still, I can't get it to embed as it should in my forum. Used the intructions provided but it just refuses to embed.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't think so. Any idea?

EDIT: While here in this forum it is showing "Blank" where the sheet should be, in my forum nothing shows up, it's like the embed code isn't even working there! Like it's not active or something.

What's really interesting is that after trying to find something useful on the proboards forums, I keep stumbling upon stuff like this:

(yeah, really clueless about that tbh, but I really doubt anyone spent time to implement this here...maybe that's incorrect though). I was reading about this "iframe" thing and plugins and Google Drive and cloud and blahblah, but I don't get why the old ones here on our forums still view properly if it shouldn't be possible...

I know that Bad made a bunch of posts with embedded google sheets and iirc I saw at least one or two others do this as well. 

I tried quoting a post and re-using the exact same code (such as OP), but it doesn't work, as you also discovered. We can clearly see that Bad has the code which evidently "worked then" and is visible to us now, yet cannot be replicated.

Why is it "still" visible and properly-embedded for old posts but not usable anymore?

Maybe proboards deliberately restricted this functionality...?

I'm guessing it's probably still doable if you figure out how...good luck....


Edit: Well I just found something interesting...when going back to an old post with embedded doc, it still shows properly. Like highergroundpoa.proboards.com/thread/22353/big-fail-pariah-barb-sorc

But a few minutes ago I tried to insert a link to Bad's post with the doc in it. When I tested the link, the "new" post page that opened in my browser did NOT properly show the doc! Gah proboards, why!?

Yep, I did come here based on a Goggle search that landed the OP. Hope that's cool.

I think you're right, this must be some old code that was changed, either for this specific board by someone, or Pro boards changed it and now simply does not allow Embedding of google sheets in it. Which is bizarre but like you say..."Gah proboards, why!?" lol.

Sad to read that stuff . The way I described worked for me. But also when I tried to copy the code for the sheet you put in into another proboards forum it didn´t work either (and I have sheets up there running perfectly fine). Quite odd.

It's really odd, I have the sheet setup to share and publishing for web and all that, so that can't be it, just something waky. lol. Not a huge deal tho, and I really appreciated the help. Thanks. If I ever get it to work I'll let you guys know.

I don't like to necro an old thread, but I may have found the solution for how to get google docs to appear in a post. I also found your site (and this thread in particular) while searching for a 'how to' for google docs in a post. After reading your responses, I did another search for gsheet and proboards and found that there is, in fact, a plugin to allow google docs in posts. I figured I would share the information here in the case anyone else stumbles through. <3
