Planar summon spell seems to be the best in most peoples opinion and I think Wiz, Sorc, and Clerics are the only ones who get it. The summon calculation has a cap but I think Conj foci help with some other things. I had at one point looked at what schools I thought were best suited for a Turner but I don't remember what they were. I don't know if SP feats help a Turner outside of some AoE spells like Battle Tide since you burn more spells casting buffs as enemies tend to be handled with turning.

wizards have Greater planar binding > is that better then the Cleric Planar binding ? At higher level, they summon from the same pool. But Planar Binding gets -1, GPB gets +3. See here: dl.dropbox.com/u/3116407/fky_summon_inc.nss

Summons use a formula which includes some random numbers to add variance but part of the formula is a bonus added to the spell for Planar Binding it is -1 for Greater Planar Binding it is +3 so Arcane have better odds of summoning a more powerful Ally so on a Cleric PSF would help close that gap as Spell Focus also adds to the formula. In the end with PSF you might be on par with an Arcane who has ESF or higher. The forumla caps out at a certain point so Focus helps more when you have fewer Caster Levels or are using a spell capable of the same summons but with a lower modifier for the formula.

Splash really hurts both turning and planar summoning. Especialy the 3 level splash on summoning.

that link doesnt say much to me alot of scribble scrabble on that link lol ! >< but wizard version is just better no ? This. I glanced over the code. I read only a fraction of it, and not very carefully, so take the following with caution. Anyway, here's what I gather so far. At CL 40 or more, the Summon Creature 1-9 spells all summon creatures from the same general pool. That pool is divided into sets. Which set you get depends on CL - 7 + which Summon Creature spell + number Conjuration foci + 1 if having ESF Anim Emp feat+ random number in 0 ... 4. Summon Creature 9 counts as a 4 in that sum, each lower Summon Creature counts as 1 less. You get the best set if that sum is 60+. If you are in the best set, you get a 1% chance of summoning those tentacle thingies from deep Elemental Planes, Xor-Yost and friends. Thus, if you have 60 CL and ESF Conju, then Summon 9 will always get you the best set. With 60Cl and LSF Conju, Summon 8 will also always give you the best set. With 59 CL (and no ESF Anim Emp), you need LSF Conju and Summon 9 to get the best set reliably. The random aspect means that you can get lucky and get the best set even with 4 less CL, for example. Planar Ally, LPB, PB, GPB work similarly. The summon stuff from the same pool, divided into sets. GPB counts as +3, PA and PB as -1, LPB as -3 in the sum. You get the best set if the sum is 60+. In the best set, for good casters, there is a 1% chance of summoning a Planetar; for evil casters, a 5% chance of summoning an Alkilith (which in a test killed the first Uro spawn easily). There does not seem to be a "lucky" summon for neutral casters. Stuff works similarly for other summoning spells. (Greater) Shadow Conjuration and Shades all summon stuff from the same pool of shade-like mobs and use Illu foci instead of Conju. The undead making spells (including PM class ability) use Necro. ESF:Anim Emp does not add a bonus for shades or undead. The best undead you can get are Dust Wight or Sanguinous Drinker. Neither shades nor undead seem to have a "lucky" summon. Note: You will need maximun charisma, if making a turner. Also, without maximun TR, i.e. going pure, you might find torublesome to roll enough to attempt to destroy your targets. I've heard that turners aren't that good for leveling 40-60. Given your class breakdown and your desire of having a turner you could make a battle cleric, using Cleric 35 Monk 1 Bg 4. then reincarnate later into a Cleric CC. Heck, you could even make some sort WIS battle cleric using intuitive attack, if you want to capitalize on monk splash. Spell schools for turners: Divination offers Gate (commune soak) and Miracle Enchantment offers Rebuke (mind spell - insta kill), GMW+14 and Guird (ac) Transmutation offers - IoF - the best partywide buff Conjuration offers: Long range ressurection, better regenerative spells, improved summons, good (enough) AB for Blade barrier.

Frag- Will post more when I get a minute but the original idea was/is to get these three areas to 4 out of a possible five: Turning, tanking, Summoning. You can make a 5/5 turner, tank, or summoner, but not 5/5 that does each. So as a 4/5 turner that is also a 4/5 tank, your going to only get to 4/5 as a summoner. That means that you will still be able to summon incredible summons (compared to a 5/5 tank). If you are purely after the absolute best summons possible, imo, it would be smart to make an arcane build specializing in conjuration through Paragon levels. It will not be able to tank or turn but that might not matter so much to you. The best solo builds on the server are, imo, sorcerers, who have mastered the art of putting their summons in exactly the right place at the right time, and using greater sanc, and gate to blink to and away from spawn as nescessary, while nuking mobs with the heaviest damage spells in the game. This kind of "Ninja Sorcery" is as much the art of being great at playing the game while also being great at building characters. IMO it is the epitome of higher grounds mastery. Note that I don't give a lick about ever making a ninja sorc. I am happy farming with my turner that blows up as much garbage as I need it to while my "good" summons (lower range balor, pf, or mari) and I chop away at stunned mobs. For now anyways. IMO if you want an easy to play character that can solo well, has a lot to offer a party, and has high survivability, the turner that can tank and summon is the way to go. Concerning the build I suggested and you are posting here....I'll fulfill my promise and pick through it and come up with something strong and viable. Like I said, my goal is four out of five in turning, tanking, and summoning. Won't get a gold star in any of those categories, but will get the silver in each.

Wait till you see 2 arcanes chain spamming TS with summons and pixies handing out 500 damage sneaks while the mobs are helpless...
