Looking for suggestions on filling out his spells to be effective - with all the spell changes not sure what is any good anymore.

2 questions:
will your build take any extra spells known feats? are you planning to specialise it for one area or make a generalist?

No and no. This is a 2 or 3 times demi build that I don't want to bother reincarnating, i just wondered about spells and was looking at input as to why I would change what I currently use.

here my suggestion if your playing hells L9 Mord , grabby , wierd , ED L8 sunburst, horrieds, incendiary cloud, polar rays L7 great thunder , FoD , Static Field , DFB L6 EV, disint , cold sphere , Cod L5 EB Lesser mantle , Lesser Mb , acid sphere , freazing fog L4 evards , enerv , wall , bc L3 disp , scint sphere , gust , keen , magic circle align L2 gv , fw , sw , death armor , cob , iorn horn L1 Exp retreat , endure elemt , grease , enfeeblement ray , shield , scare 2 ruins , dom and epic wall ... this is my old notes , i think i actually changed some spells but those got my sorc x3 with fun and glory

this is the list my sorc will be taking when i get round to redoing its spells (same foci as you) ment to be a generalist across hell, ely, abo and abyss, ok in all areas but not amazing in any either has all forms of elemental blast damage (but low DC on acid due to it being conj), + fire and elec clouds negative damage aswell and evards (low AB though) and a lot of different forms of insta kill or disable only uses one of the new spells though
Lvl 9 ED (temp caster levels and ED to death) Mordenkainens Disjunction (every endgame area on the server has monsters that it’s good to get rid of their buffs and SR at a distance) Bigbys (raks and palthree mostly, but a nice disable across the server) Weird (instakill things vulnerable to fear)
Lvl 8 Sunburst (instakill undead) Incendiary cloud (nice fire damage over time) Horrid Wilting (desiccating damage and instakill for abo and abyss) Premonition (powerful defence, but with tia staff and styxwalkers you may be able to rely on the 7 epic wardings [50/+20 for 3 minutes each]) polar ray good alternative
Lvl7 Great Thunderclap (area sonic damage + KD) Banish (you may need a GSF item that doesn’t conflict with gear, but with all the stuff in ely abo and abyss that can be banished it’s a nice instakill to have) Delayed Blast Fireball (area fire damage) FoD (nice source of negative damage, and can instakill, but id probably use CoD for that more due to area effect and longer range) or static field (elec damage over time)
Lvl 6 CoD (area long range death magic, I lovely spell) Ethereal Visage (a mages main source of defence) Disintegrate (nice long range instakill for machines etc.) Freezing Sphere (area cold damage)
Lvl 5 Wrack (nice debuff) Energy Buffer (nice buff, but with amazing gear may not be needed) Galvanic cone (area elec damage) Lesser Spell Mantle (very nice buff, keeps you alive when raks/abo’s start throwing death spells) Vitriolic Sphere (area acid damage)
Lvl 4 Remove Curse (for abo and abyss) Evards Black Tentacles (not amazing without conj foci, but still nice) Bestow Curse (for up close SR and stat lowering Enervate (for lowering resists and level drain to death) Fear (nice for abyss)
Lvl 3 Clarity (nice for abyss and confusion removal in hell) Gust of Wind (fume killing, getting rid of clouds and KD) Magic circle vs alignment (nice for abyss) Displacement (keep them tanks/clerics alive) Keen (with trans foci you can buff all weapons)
Lvl 2 Cloud of Bewilderment (area disable) Flame Weapon (buff tank damage) Ghostly Visage (keep yourself alive/repositioning) Shock Weapon (buff tank damage) Melfs Acid Arrow (nice ranged acid damage spell) Vocalize (lets you use lvl9s silent without the ely ring)
Lvl 1 Endure Elements (more resists) Expeditious Retreat (move faster) Mage Armour (buff tanks that lost dodge bonuses and summons) Persistent Blade (nice summon that works off evoc foci) Ice dagger (nice ranged cold damage spell) Horizikauls boom (nice ranged sonic damage spell)
id be tempted to try and fit in FtS and/or UtD, but what iv listed seems better to me
EDIT: of the other new spells, the lvl 4 vortex of teeth and lvl 5s break enchantment and flensing seem really nice, but iv only seen them in the test are so arnt sure how good they are (and the lvl 5s have tough competition). I might drop fear for vortex of teeth though, but only after testing on other toons

peteAny thoughts on more new spells should be useful for the same school focus? I'd love to take advantage of lower slots but not sure what works; using Red Mage build from Open Builds but the spells are all older in the build suggestions.

If you have trans focus you will want to pick up Flensing. Spam it Empowered or better Maximized and it will be very nice damage. Generally on mobs that have a lot of health, or are going to stay alive long enough. Or anything with low immunity to slashing. Gives use for all those trans feats in areas you can't disintegrate.
