New monitor issues with resolutions and refresh rate

After years and years of using a 21 inch 5:4 ratio 1280 * 1024 @75 htz it has been showing its age recently and am about to get a new moniter curved screen 32 inch 16/9 ratio...

Now I have looked into NWN1 settings and it would seem the best NWN gets for this new monitor is 1600 * 900 but this issue is the refresh rate offered is only 60 htz... Ideally I would prefer 1920 * 1080 and at least once again 75htz or better...

So am asking the community here for a bit of advice as I do not want to run NWN at 60htz because there is a bit of flicker that causes myself problems with eye strain at that level...

Is there a better solution to running NWN1 in my current setting and accepting a lot of black unused screen area ie 1280 * 1024 @75 htz... Naturally I do not have this issue with NWN-EE but I still enjoy NWN1 and HG as well as a couple of others that have not got to EE yet...

Any advice welcome including those that have had similar experiencies in this ...

I am running triple screen and decided to go with 1680x1050 120hz, I run that in windowed mode. I can have hgwiki running on another monitor, etc. Could even have 3 , one for each monitor...
I have since changed the desktop resolution to 85Hz (144hz monitors), and I think that has solved a lag problem I was having.
85hz seems ok, on LCD.
