Hey All, I do not know if this breaks the "No other game discussions" rule, but I doubt that that applies in this specific case (Or, if it does, I feel an exception should be made!)
Does anybody know where the original mod can be found? Many of my questions have been answered with "Oh, that is from the original mod". I would love to see what "Paths of Ascension" started as.

I have never played the original "Paths of Ascension" mod, guessing with some work you can find it running somewhere on the web.
Some areas/maps, monsters and items have been deleted and all the legendary level content has been added. POA was a level 40 cap mod iirc.
Off the top of my head the only thing I can recall people talking about is the killer chickens and the Hermit in the sewers is dead and not a vender.
You can probably find someone who knows much more.

I assume nwnvault is offline by now. It was a site with all types of modules back in the day.

It's still around, although mainly focused on NWN:EE. Luckily they're always changing the .exe in NWN:EE so porting mods isn't really necessary. The mod the OP asked about is in the Vault, along with hundreds of others, just like always(or at least, again... it wasn't maintained and was offline for a good bit) neverwintervault.org

I talked with aw trespassers a few weeks ago, he's the author. There is an ancient warriors discord channel that you might search for -or- you could try the old email addresses awclan@comcast.net or awclan@ancientwarriors.org. if I see tress around, i'll ask if he still has the original mod.

The "original" PoA has been hacked so many times that it may no longer exist. I remember playing a single-player version that eventually led me here, but it was a LOT different.
If memory serves (and it probably doesn't), the only similarity was the main story line ending in immortality and you were pretty much locked into following it (i.e. no freeroam). I also remember having to take notes because the journal was pretty sucky.

Original PoA was a level 1-20 mod. Great goal was to reach immortality. You could download it from the AW HP. Sure I still have it on my old computer but I am not sure I will get the old computer out of the darkest corner of my cellar. Way to immortality was the same like today. Kill the drow, get the crown, say hello to the old man and break the crown. After this you had a few areas with hard challenges (for a level 20 toon) like MoaD or Rhazid, and the hardest of all runs: the chickens of doom. Best gear was the "ranger" gear. The secret cave is still on HG but its no loot in it.
Little bit after there was a 2nd PoA until level 40 with a lot of new areas but it dissapeared from the vault one day and I cant remember if there was a greater goal after immortality.

Yes the original POA was 1-20, but the first release we didn't have immortality, you defeated the drow in Mana and the crown you looted had a click buff that gave massive regen and immunities hence semi immortality.
The levels of alot of areas got scaled to 40 that were under 20 including Mana.
I ran one of the earliest editions on GameSpy modded with a newer town and balanced shops but capped at +5s. We never had a solid population and closed shop after about 6 months but back then you could find 10 POAs persistent up at once.
I like HG version better, but prefer the non LL areas.

Just brought back the memories of Fusa racing everyone on the only server reset to do Dachy on his monk. You could almost time the yellow dragon shout message. Anyone see any of the old timers anymore?
