I really hope that these feedback threads are helpful and not annoying. HG has so much potential, but it is very sad to see all of this work fading away into history.
It appears that GOG as of a few weeks, have stopped selling Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition. It is not available on the store front, cannot be found by search and has simply vanished. Some have said that NWN DE is 'packaged' with NWN EE, but I've looked at my installation and nothing can be found.
I'm therefore wondering if Multi-boxing is now no longer possible for new players and if it is possible to get new CD's, how to do it, when new keys are no longer available. Is it even legal - would explain why GOG would want to remove it from their site.
This was very disappointing to see, and with the lack of other players on HG, I've sort of stopped playing HG the last few weeks or so.
As the years progress, it seems less and less people are playing HG now and as of recent, the only people doing it seem to be multi boxing, which is essentially playing by themselves. This is a very sad state of affairs for such a promising PW that has a lot of potential. It needs rescuing, before being lost to time. It is not as fun to play solo as it is with other players.
With no sign of NWN DE being available from the GOG store, it might be time to look for alternatives other than for players to multi-box?
For example, what would it be like to have companions/henchmen within the PW that single players could hire? The developers could easily create ways of having items that summon henchmen that could join the player, and effectively become a party of sorts. It's not the same as having a real person in the party, but would make the game more practical and easier to play and also get round the problem of Henchmen being taken by other players if they are at the global level.
Alternatively, perhaps redesign the credentials so that a given player, doesn't need to own loads of CD keys to be able to multi box, but perhaps use in game passwords instead? Would this be something that EE might consider implementing in a future update?

However, if you look here: www.gog.com/game/neverwinter_nights_enhanced_edition_packYou will see that the the EE version on GOG includes the original NWN.

As a separate note, as of this writing, the game is on sale for $2.99.

Hey nwfan87, These feedback threads are great. It is this kind of interaction that keeps the community alive! (BTW, you do not need to prepend the thread topic with "Higher Ground Feedback [#]". By definition, any entry in "Thoughts and Ideas" is feedback! :-D I think it is easier to read if you just use the main topic. eg. "Journal entries" or "Multi Player Alternatives")

No I bought mine on Steam, but given the price, would not hurt to get another copy, and that would mean I would already have second key right?

Guess I could do that, though probably best I stick to the format now to save consistency and make it easier for others to find what they're looking for. A lot of the time, I focus on making threads that are also helpful to other people, not just myself

You may need to contact the GOG support team to get a working key, but it would be part of the purchase. I also bought my EE on Steam, but I still have my original software.

I have "purchased" NWN 4 times First on disc when it came out I still have the disc manuals and keys 2nd on GOG back when I came back and to multibox on HG 3rd on GOG for EE 4th on GOG again for a 4th key
For 3 and 4 they had to be done on new separate GOG accounts as my account already had Diamond and I specifically wanted the Diamond Key the last 2 were done when Prime was giving away EE through Prime Gaming and I used my redemption code and a family members gave me theirs. If you bought Diamond or already bought EE on GOG then you will need a new account with GOG to get EE w/ a Diamond Key.
I can also confirm that when I got the last 2 license I found the key in my GOG library I did not have to contact them but you do have to go into your library to retrieve the unique multiplayer key.

About the lack of players atm. HG will never have again a player base like 10-15 years ago. Its just a bad time to start. First its summer and even hard-core (mean the attitude, not the modus) HG-players go outside from time to time. Some disintegrate to dust but the most will be back in autumn. Second in the last few weeks 3 of the most expected fantasy-games launched. After a few runs they will come back. Hypes come and go, HG stays forever!

Seems very desperate to me, that anyone should have to create multiple GOG accounts to be able to play HG satisfactorily. All the more reason for it to go to EE, but that's for another thread. Getting it on GOG with multiple accounts seems the cheapest, but a lot of work to set up. I suppose that means you need a separate email address, so another account to set up?

There are lots of players on EE, so from my mind, HG would benefit from migrating to HG, or having it so it can run on both systems. But that's another discussion.

I believe there is talk a couple places where some email provider(s) allow you to make slight changes to your email without you having to make any actual new email addresses. I already have 3 emails for myself(personal, recovered old personal, side business) I also created an email I access and control for my step son. It is annoying to have extra GOG.com accounts but unless I needed to do this with another game besides the account which I setup for my step son I will never need to log back in to the others so long as I don't lose the keys.
Migration to EE is something I believe planned or intended but not given the level of custom content it is not as easy a task as many other modules. I was recently wondering though for the players, such as myself, who have multiple accounts and many toons how will a transition to EE work for us?

The likelihood of HG migrating to EE appears very low in my estimation. However, there are still people that play HG and it is possible to have fun here. It does take some investment in time and energy but there are people still willing to help in a way that doesn't zap the fun out of it. Maybe post your play times and playername and people can look out for you in game.

With no sign of NWN DE being available from the GOG store, it might be time to look for alternatives other than for players to multi-box? As mentioned previously, Diamond Edition is provided free when you buy EE on GoG. You might have misread or misunderstood that when it was discussed in the other thread. The answer to the question is, simply, no. There are many pages of discussions on this oft-contentious subject which you may or may not find worthwhile to read, but in summary, multi-boxing has been a "problem" for a very long time and there is no "solution" to it at this point. One of the possible mechanisms for addressing it as a "problem" was in fact EE migration, which leads to the next subject at hand: There is zero chance of HG migrating to EE. Although the last update from Funky on the subject was that he did conclude that porting plugins over would be possible, getting the work done is absolutely not realistic. For previous discussions on EE migration, including concerns and addresses regarding the vault, see several threads from years past. Re-treading that ground is less relevant now than ever, much like multi-boxing. It's not that no one cares or everyone gave up or the playerbase is too jaded to make changes; it's simply that development is stalled and what can/might take place is extremely limited, and the last new content which was approaching completion has yet to drop.
