Was making my way through the Hall of Horrors on 12/24/2023 to get my levitation ring. Killing some Greater Horror monsters triggered a warning against bartering gold. The message also said to report this message spam to the forums if the message appeared after killing a monster. So that is what I am doing. hope this helps.
