There are several maps with secrets that have neutral mobs hanging about (bears, white stags, etc) And there are several places that only let you transition or pick up loot if there are no enemies.
Unfortunately, the neutral animals and dominated pets are considered enemies, preventing you from transitioning to the next map, entering the secret area or picking up the special loot.
I would think that neutral animals and dominated pets would not add to the danger of the area.
Do you know how guilty I feel over all the firegrubs I have had to kill, who had been nuzzling up to my legs and helping me kill Putrescent orbs just moments prior?! They are so cute! It makes me feel awful! (Also, it causes problems from both a player experience and from a role-play perspective)

. . . Interestingly, I am able to enter the decrepit cavern secret area, even though Bob is still alive and hanging around. I guess he must be flagged differently than the animals in the swamp of decay and in the forgotten forest (or dominated pets). Maybe he is "friendly" instead of neutral? Are maybe because he can be interacted with?

And when the firegrubs die, they curl up like a little kitty-cat! :_(

I agree it is annoying when dominated creatures prevent something but I find the instances fairly limited. I don't know of any location with a neutral animal or creature that prevents access to something on that very same map. I think the issue is to dominate the creature must be a monster and not an NPC so certain areas might have things that a blocked while there are monsters so any dominated creature will trigger that block. Also death to the firegrubs!
