Vigilantes 'enforce' the the law while breaking it themselves. Funky Thanks Funky. My antipodean understanding of vigilante was (and remains): ' Those citizens who "take the law into their own hands," meting out homebrew justice when they perceive that the actions of established authorities are insufficient ' (Source: Wikipedia, et al) Further, and this is what I think is your point in regard to my post Funky, " Vigilantism is sometimes vilified when it gives way to criminal behaviour on the part of the vigilante. " (ibid) My comment on Av's reply was was on the former application ... can't speak for what Av intended of course, just the way I read it. Grog PS I can swing a mean sack of doorknobs though Edit -added PS

Of course, at the beginning of the entry, good 'ole Wiki says: "There is no absolute definition of a vigilante." My point here was that there was no 'law' being broken, just a lot of people that need to take a closer look at the server rules on pickpocketing. Funky

This is all I saw. I pulled up to the seal entrance with a group of lowbies I just helped get the xul tag and the seals with. I was being nice and just helping people out (some of which were less than 2 weeks new to the server). Valdur was helping me. He's become a good friend and I don't have any problems with him. Not sure what angered others so much about him to coordinate a pk attack, but whatever. Valdur btw is not in a guild and does not have other characters in a guild. There is no grounds for pk here based on a war. Tyran i was with that party for like only 10 or 20min(after or before this pk incident) but valur was kind bossy for someone who doesnt seem to known alot about the sever.................

"So we are about to use the seals and go in when a formian player who will remain nameless at this time was ported in. He started pickpocketing Valdur who was annoyed and started demanding his stuff back. The ant started attacking Valdur who was out of heals and ill prepared for a fight. Valdur asked the group for help. We were all out of spells and in need of rest. I had no idea who the attacker was. Never seen that character before, nor understood what this was all about. All I know is if you attack my party member and there is no visible good reason for it, I will defend them." I must admit I have had a similar incident happen a long time ago when I was still fairly newish and I was very confuse as well as to was going on. I was not there when this paticular incident occured but feel it should be dropped for the sake of politeness. Let the incident stand as a reminder to all parties as to what can go wrong and how to avoid it in the future. For vets....try to make sure one of the newer players knows what is going on and warn them off if need be or perhaps let a dm know what you are going to do...for the newer players...treat all players as if they are vets and deserving of some respect for thier knowledge and expertise. I am sure none of us want Jerry Springerism to erupt on the server. Let's all act like adults in here and try to keep it light. It is after all a game. Now everyone repeat after me....
"if you can't say something nice...say nothing at all"
quote from my Mother.
Peace...and I do mean peace! Phantanya

Well put, Phanny. Locking this down as I don't see anything positive coming from it. Funky
