OK...for some reason, despite installing CEP 1.52 using its self-extracting application...I don't seem able to get access to the neat head selections at character creation.
Plus, I'm looking to obtain more voice-sets, and don't know how to do this or add them.
And more portraits - of weird things. I have tons of "people" but nothing for many of the subraces - wraiths, shades, thrikreen (formians), illithids, rakshasas etc. Short of hunting with a fine tooth comb through the NWVault, where can I find them. Can they be taken from the game's various chapters easily?
Short form being, I don't know how to get access to the game's heads/voices/portraits used for NPCs, and would like help. Please?

A lot of folks dont know that you need to create a portraits file. Here what I do. I made a portraits file then I go to nwn vaults( use the search bar after you get into the portraits section, that may help shorten your search) and just download portraits from there. I unzip them into my portraits file. You can also find voice sets there using the search bar. I think....someone correct me if I'm wrong...you can unzip those into your override file. If not there than in the tlk files. If you can find the files for cep heads I think those go into override too. Peace, Phantanya

Can you explain to me about the override file then? Mine is empty, and fixes suggest that I need to stick heads or voices in there...
And for some reason, I have two override backup files which have junk in them.
I am confused. Can someone give me a crash-course in the override file-folder and what kinds of things from CEP I should put in there to get heads and voice sets?

I am really the last person to give techinal advice but I THINK if your override file is empty that may be where you are having problems. I usually load all stuff directly into that file cause i just dont trust the auto install thingys. I have back up files too but I think these are for when you need to re install nwn. Perhpas copy and paste the junk form back up into your regular override file and see if that works. There are also lots of neat things to download from the other higher ground forums. Like...color icons....celings for caves and real hands....that is all stuff you can put in your override file. Personally I can't see how I ever managed without color icons......but I am spoiled.
Peace, Phantanya

also you will really need the get the animation fix (link in pdf and someplace else here) that helps you from crashing a lot, these go in the override directory too

Found them! Thank you Fusa!
One thing though - they all have the name portraits.2da...so I can't put them all into the same directory without overwriting them. Is there a way to merge all the portraits I want to be overridden into one big portraits.2da? Or if I rename them into different things, will it still work?
And what else can/should I put in here? CEP Head-model alterations, other body model alterations, other portraits files...colored spell icons go in here?

The portraits.2da is just a text file allowing you to access npc portraits. You can compre the 2 and see if any are missing but thats dozens to check. I would just use the biggest of the 2. No if you rename them they will not work. Yes, the model head alterations, body alterations, and spell icons go here. Any made custom portraits go in the portraits subdirectory. Although unless others in the game have the portrait no one else will see those. Only the NPC portraits.2da will allow others to see your portrait.

Hmm - ok, I just tested things...and I was able on character generation to access monster portraits...BUT either the custom portraits, or CEP portraits, or both, didn't appear. This sounds silly, but does the override directory portraits replace other haks or cep materials giving portraits? If I want them all, do I have to combine them somehow?
