Well I was considering making a little person weapon master (because little people are cool!) and was thinking about what sort of weapon to focus in. Thing is, I'm not entirely sure if there are "good" (i.e. non-store bought) versions of some of the weapons I'd like to pick. I don't really want to do kukris because EVERYONE does Kukris.
So are there any good - hopefully high level and "transitional" ones along the way: shortswords, sickles or handaxes? Handaxe seems like the better choice on paper but I've only seen one relatively low level one, that was sort of good.

There are very nice lvl 30, lvl 35, and Dustbone versions of each weapon, if you can get a GMW from someone. There are also good MoAD and Ssithrak versions of each weapon, which have solid enchantment bonuses on them.
I know the lvl 30 and lvl 35 handaxes work quite nicely in the Illithid areas. I don't find sickle that compelling. Also consider the bludgeoning weapons (mace and light hammer), since fewer enemies seem to have resistance and immunity to them.

Sing along with me, Short people got big problems, short people got big problems........... Seriously though Dagger is always a good selection. Before dusty and ssyths weapons the dagger was the best weapon avalable followed closley by the whip. Also you cant beat the x3 of a handaxe if you want to dish out some heavy damage. There are alot of good choices out there and go with what your playing style represents

Also consider the bludgeoning weapons (mace and light hammer), since fewer enemies seem to have resistance and immunity to them. You'll see this trend continue and even expand, as a counterweight to the crit range of many non-bludgeoning weapons. Funky

There have been short people threads on here before, specifically an artifact for the vertically challenged along the lines of the flag of ascension springs to mind. There aren't a lot of 'small' equivalents for some of the nice items on the server. When doing my cleric I really wanted to be a gnome rather than one of the medium/large races but couldnt beat my powergaming over style tendancy because of the amount of things i'd have to sacrifice being a gnome (svrifnebilin), over being a human based subrace. Most of these reasons were bioware thangs (xp penalty, lack of skill points for gnome over human, loss of a feat - which actually stops me from getting an extra epic spell focus), but one of the main reasons was because I'd have to drop a shield to use the dach staff as shortys can only use dachy's staves two-handed.
Now I don't think that shortys should have 'equivalents' of items that larger characters can use - there has to be penalties for choosing shorter races to make up for the benefits they gain, but a 'subsitute' item, not as good as the items larger characters can use, but still better than nothing would not be totally unreasonable IMO.

"Short people, got one reason, to cleave"
Weapon master? Easy peasy if you are doing a STR build:
Rapier or scimitar
And why?
Its the only weapon combination in the game that gives base 18-20 crit range AND allows x 1.5 STR bonus on damage ... remember rapiers/scims are 2h weapons for the little'uns
With a 50 Str you are normally doing +20 damage, with a rapier/scim like this you do +30 ... and with a WM you crit 10-20 for x3
Downside is no shield of course (compare that to the scythe WM), and generally a -2 STR pen due to race.
Little dudes like this crit more often and have more base damage, at the expense of defence and crit multiplier

Well even though the scim/rapier idea SOUNDS cool I've never seen/heard of a character that's gone with a two handed weapon sucessfully on HG. Going without a shield seems to be just plain suicide in nearly every instance I've ever encountered - unless you're a monk or possibly certain dexers.
Anyway I think I'm going to go with mace - the only reason I didn't ask about mace or light hammer is I already have a few nice versions of those - lots of nice maces actually. Since my little lady kobold is going to be RDD/strength based I don't think giving up the shield is an option. And since mace is a simple weapon I don't have to use a feat to use it like some of the others.

i see many 2 haned players around higher ground granted 99% are scythe users but in all fairness str builds never did have HUGE ac .. damage reduction is your key to survival.. my main concern with a halfling using a scim or such wuould be that they cannot wear half/full plate so the dmg reduction from immo plate for example is a no no although there is dacht robe .. and little uns naturally have a higher dex (most of the time) or maybe if u cna find chain mail or such then it would be cool (wearingld mean to have the 8ac plus 1 dex like full plate means u need +9 mod on dex thats 28 dex :S)

my main concern with a halfling using a scim or such wuould be that they cannot wear half/full plate X-man, please explain! When is armour limited by SIZE and not by STR (we are playing the NWN version of 3.0 and not P&P/F2F D&D 3.5) ?? Grog
