Why does the Pixie Subrace have so many more benefits than that of say Rakshasa? Being able to obtain the Rakshasa subrace is definatley much harder making it that much more rare yet it doesn't even match the Pixie's SR of 15+1/lvl
15 +1 / lvl is exactly what Wizards System Reference Document puts the Pixies SR at for Player Characters. However Rakshasa's would be 26+ 1/lvl to be in line with the SRD. While I know you are not trying to to follow the SRD while balancing the game wouldn't at least having the Rak's SR be the highest in the game be balanced?
I mean what have they got going for them besides have the +4 CHR? Even the Illithid has a +5 to its primary stat and a couple of free feats which are much more useful in Epic than a 50 SR is.
*********************************************************************** Pixie" (secret subrace) - requires Human (changes Appearance) STR -2, CON -2, DEX +2, INT +2, WIS +2, CHA +2, +2 listen, +2 search, +2 spot, increased base movement rate - very fast, sr 15 + 1/lvl, free feat: Low-Light Vision, free feat: Dodge, reduces character size to small, able to walk on quicksand *************************************************************** "Rakshasa" (secret subrace) - no race requirement (changes Appearance) STR -1, CON -1, CHA +4, SR10 + 1/lvl **************************************************************** D20 SRD: Rakshasa characters possess the following racial traits.
+2 Strength, +4 Dexterity, +6 Constitution, +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, +6 Charisma. Medium size. A rakshasa’s base land speed is 40 feet. Darkvision out to 60 feet. Racial Hit Dice: A rakshasa begins with seven levels of outsider, which provide 7d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +7, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +5, Ref +5, and Will +5. Racial Skills: A rakshasa’s outsider levels give it skill points equal to 10 x (8 + Int modifier). Its class skills are Bluff, Disguise, Listen, Move Silently, Perform, Sense Motive, and Spot. A rakshasa has a +4 racial bonus on Bluff and Disguise checks, and it can gain further bonuses by using change shape (+10 on Disguise checks) and detect thoughts (+4 on Bluff and Disguise checks). Racial Feats: A rakshasa’s outsider levels give it three feats. +9 natural armor bonus. Natural Weapons: Bite (1d6) and 2 claws (1d4). Detect Thoughts (Su): The save DC is 13 + the character’s Cha modifier. Spells: A rakshasa character casts spells as a 7th-level sorcerer. If the character takes additional levels of sorcerer, these levels stack with the rakshasa’s base spellcasting ability for spells known, spells per day, and other effects dependent on caster level. A rakshasa character likewise uses the sum of its racial spellcasting levels and class levels to determine the abilities of its familiar. Special Qualities (see above): Change shape, damage reduction 15/good and piercing, spell resistance equal to 27 + class levels. Automatic Languages: Common, Infernal. Bonus Languages: Sylvan, Undercommon. Favored Class: Sorcerer. Level adjustment +7.

Neither SR does a thing against any enemy you could reasonably describe as a threat. The other feat and skill bonuses are of little value to the typical Rakshasa build (Sorc, maybe Bard). The comparison is pretty much this:
Pixie: Moves faster Desert walker
Rakshasa: +2 cha Able to wield Dachy staff and a torch together Able to use any main race
Pixie makes a good all-around non-tank build (I have 3 at the moment), but Rakshasa has non-trivial advantages.

Hiryuu pretty much nailed that one. In addition, when subrace sr's are rolled up to meet LL standards Raks will get a bigger boost. We added pixies long before Raks, and before we had a firm idea of what the cap would be on sr, so we couldnt boost it any when Raks were introduced. Funky

Pixies have a net stat bonus of +4 compared to +2 of Rak. Skill bonus, Dodge, Speed and Desert walk as Main advantages all over and above. I think the Desert Walk is a pretty powerful ability and Free Dodge is nothing to sneeze at either.
The "Any Race" is a nice bonus but I am guessing many people use Human anyways for the feat and skill points as any of the races that help CON have CHR penalties. I guess Halfling to be a fair choice as well for +2 DEX -2 STR but favored class penalties may apply.
I am just suggesting a small bump of a Feat like Darkvision (basically flavor text) or maybe the minor speed increase as they have slightly faster Base Move or maybe a 5-10% piercing immunity as these all represent Rakshasa qualities and would help define this as one of the better races.
*********************************************************************** Pixie" (secret subrace) - requires Human (changes Appearance) STR -2, CON -2, DEX +2, INT +2, WIS +2, CHA +2, +2 listen, +2 search, +2 spot, increased base movement rate - very fast, sr 15 + 1/lvl, free feat: Low-Light Vision, free feat: Dodge, reduces character size to small, able to walk on quicksand *************************************************************** "Rakshasa" (secret subrace) - no race requirement (changes Appearance) STR -1, CON -1, CHA +4, SR10 + 1/lvl ****************************************************************

This holds true if you're making sorcerers.
A Rakshasa Paladin is better than a Pixie one any day, since they can use more weapons and shields.
The usefulness of subraces depends entirely upon what you're doing with it, in my opinion.

Yup. Weighing net stat bonus is not a very good way to judge the reletive power of a subrace. Funky

Greetings, Thought this would be as good a place as any to not start a new thread. Wow the UR subraces look rockin'--and the hunt is on! Thank you. Does a plus sign or a minus sign go in front of the 2 related to Cha on the Baseborn Titan? I am assuming "+" based on pnp... Cheers, The Dancer
