Sure. You put your item in, sell it, and buy the item you are interested in. Behold, the wonder of currency! Seriously, there is reason it was invented. Think about the dynamics of what you are suggesting, and how swollen the market would become with untraded items. Granted, we are dealing with an deprecpiated currency at the moment, but I expect that will change, reletively soon, both due to the item market and coming alternative uses for cash, lots of it. It's simple. Put the items you want to offer for trade in the price chest at max price. That way, unless someone is coming to buy (NO ONE walks around with a character maxed out on gold), when they click on your item, they will get your playername, so they will know to flag you down to set up a trade for it. Given the speed on the message board I can't see it being any more efficient than that; if fact, I suspect people would stop looking at it in a matter of a few days. Also, please at least try the current system before attempting to make suggestions, since I can pretty much guarantee I alreeady thought of it and rejected it for whatever reason, whatever the suggestion may be, because I spent a loooong time thinking, developing, and rethinking the current one. never thought of that, was thinking it could only be traded for gold, but not as a way to advertise that you have a valuable item up for trade

Aye, sorry if I sounded snappish, but I beat pretty much every ounce of functionality I could out of that system. I had to make a few compromises for the sake of smooth running, and to prevent item loss (unlike the bank, you can only loose an item from the market if you are in the middle of pricing/setting number of days when the server crashes - even then, it should still be in your inventory instead of the market, if you remembered to save). It toook a LOT of finessing, a good deal of cursing, and a lotta elbow grease, so the odds of coming up with something better that is viable are low, at least until players have some time to work with it and learn its positives and negatives.
