New subracesw will be introduced soon, via the random loot system. One idea is to make them one shot per find, rather than granting the character a permanent ability to make characters of that race - making them ever rarer that the rest. I want to know what players think about that,m so please, divulge your opinions! Funky

I don't like it. It certainly would make test building imperative, since you would not have the option of deleting and remaking it.

and if you make very simple mistake at lvl 1 then not much choice other than to continure leveling it or hope to find it again.

To maintain the rarity and preserve the ability for players to modify their builds should they make a mistake, I suggest the following system. When a player discovers one of these new subraces through the random loot system, it adds a counter int to that player's account. For each counter you get, you can create one character with that subrace, decreasing your amount of counters by one. If you screw up to the point where you cannot delevel the character, deleting the character with the subrace adds that counter back into your account's total.
Depending on the amount of subraces handled in this way, it might be a lot of ints to set...unless you want to make a blanket int for a certain rarity of subrace (like the blanket item to unlock a certain set of current subraces).

This would be no more ints than we set now. Nice idea! Funky

Would it be possible to make any characters with [Test] in their name not actually use up your tag as I quite like the idea of a single use sub-race tag. This would prevent people having the sub-race for multiple different builds keeping the rarity of in-game random subs.

Yup, we could do that. So, do people like the idea, given freebies for deletion and [TEST] builds, or do those features just make something bad less bad? Funky

IMO, [test] builds should be able to be of any subrace, regardless of if you've found it yet or not (old ones or new). While I prefer that access to a subrace be unlimited once found, I'm ok with the new ones being different as long as the old ones stay the same as they always have been. Though this type system would beg for a trade in ability, go to pedistal X to trade two Y subrace counters for a Z . Dave.

I love the idea of one build per find! I think the ability to delete a character and get their 'subrace counter' back, as Balduvard suggested, would work great. Also, this would let you [TEST] your character first, because after you build/test him you then delete him and viola! you get your counter back. Also, if you really screw up, you can do it all over again with some cost (the hassle of deleting and starting back at lvl 1) -- which is good, wouldn't want to make it painless or there'd be no incentive to plan it right from the start. Also, this would really encourage player trade at the market, which I also view as a good thing.

IF one book gives you one shot at a subrace, then I agree on the following -All subraces should be allowed to be used in the [TEST] area. -The subraces should all have a marker to establish that once you deleted that character you get a second shot at the hard earned book you found or won.
I think this is a cool idea, one book, one race, but I just want to make sure there is a way to reverse mistakes because we are all human and we all make mistakes! So in my eyes the less possibility for a mistake to happen, the better the system.

Wow, this sounds like a great idea! I love finding treasure of all kinds, and having it be a "one shot" build per race find would make it valuable to find the race more than once!
Also like the idea of being able to delete the build and get that race use back

Great idea especially if it can be done like baldy suggested. Is it possible to make a random sub-race book? one which is rare and has the ability to randomly give a selection of hard to obtain secret subraces but chooses which to give you randomly, meaning if it picks one you had already oh well you just have to find another. Could call it Tome of The Racial Lottery just an idea and more curious as to if its possible.

In most games people are allowed to gamble there money in the chance to get something good, such as a item or in this case a race book. I like the idea of being able to gamble your money away on the server that way people are going to go nuts over looting now =) So I suggest more area's that you can "Hunt" in. Maybe open outdoor area's that are all about the random loot and not the boss's so people can go out there alone =) Kinda like the cow level in Diablo? That would be fun, might as well use what is already successful =)
