hi there DM peoples. on sunday night at approx 12 midnight EST: a low level group (including me) entered the orc warrens and proceeded to crash upon entry. every relog just put us back in the same spot, and we promptly crashed every time, so in essence, the whole party (tomaric bloodmoon, galadriel, snarfy huffnpuff, sethteka fenvara, forgotten wraith, nina shadowspawn) are trapped there. just figured u should know. and now for somehting completely different. same night, 15 mins later: upon relogging with my lev 40 char, i was able to hear a completely different parties party chat in my dialogue box. i was currently not partied with anyone. furthermore, they went to fight the creatures at the farm, and i saw everything they were doing in my combat box. apparently, i died with them too, although i wasnt there. and then the death token didnt take. i hit "wait for help" and stood back up where i was standing in the town of ascension. and on top of all this whackyness, i could not see anything in my inventory (i could still see my quickslots).

I have an inkling what may be going on in the warrens, I'll have a look. As for the rest, that sounds like 2 or more people are playing on the same ip and client port. I'll have to track them down and reset the server. What server was this? Funky

Monty Python, am I right? Something similar happened to me, I teleported to town while my party was still fighting, (I may be mistaken, but i think we were in the farm too...) and when I was in town, I could still see in my combat log everything that was happening in the battle, and because of that I couldn't rest. I waited a bit and after about half a minute it stopped. I read the posts about playing on the same port on a LAN and I definitely don't do that, so (at least in my case) it wasn't that... It may be something with the farms, or it was just a coincidence, or my memory is faulty. By the way, this happened a week or two ago.

I had a similar problem the other day while fighting Queen Z in the deep levels of the Abandoned Temple. We were struggling with the fight, and our two mages (Me and another) used TP stones to get back tot town to rest. Unfortunately, there seemed to be some link to the ongoing combat, adn neither of us could rest. My combat log showed the other mages' cloudkill damage reports. After leaving the party, moving to other areas of the map (Wilderness, Docks) we managed to rest, but it occured several times during the fight. Cannot remember the time (probably late at night, early morning UK/GMT). Login Khalran, Character Name Orion. I am playing on a LAN, but with only one PC runnign NWN. I am patched up to 1.67, HoU+SoU with CEP 1.53 (? latest).

Something similar happened to me on Thursday or Friday - I was standing in town and suddenly had a complete and running combat log of effects for a fight going on over in Vashyk's Ruin with another party member.
But then all of us went to the Illithids, and since we were all together, no way to see if anything else was odd.

This is what happens when 2 or more people are logged on from the same ip (ie on a LAN) using the same client port setting in their nwnplayer.ini files. If uyou are playing with someone else on a LAN, you MUST use a different setting. One of you (assuming there are only 2) must go into nwnplayer.ini and enter the next highest number, and save. If it says: Client Port=5123 for instance, one of you should use 5124 instead. If there are three people on this hypothetical LAN, the third should also use another port, like 5125. Note this is CLIENT port, NOT GAME port (game port is higher up in the ini file).
Please feel free to shout asking who is playing on a LAN, and giving them this information, if you have these out-of-body experiences. The double LAN login also causes excessive amounts of lag.
BE AWARE even after the players that were double-logged on a lan have fixed their settings, the server must still be reset before things will return to normal, so you should get hold of a dm. You can usually reach me on yim, addy under my avatar.

"As for the rest, that sounds like 2 or more people are playing on the same ip and client port. I'll have to track them down and reset the server. What server was this?" it was the .111:5121 server and to whomever asked: of course its the one and only monty python! thank god thats not lost on the youth of today as to two players using the same port on a LAN: i was the only person on my home network playing at the time, no one else was logged in. unless someone else happened to be playing on ur server on the same port as me (which ive altered long ago from the default 5121 in the .ini) and happened to be on my same neighborhood LAN from my ISP.... <-- that would be quite the coincidence. but seeing as its happened to other PC's who werent LAN;ing with anyone as well, might be one of those heisenbugs thats near impossible to track down... oh well. anyway, what ended up happening with the orc warrens?

The LAN double login effects EVERY PLAYER on the server, not just those double logged. Hence my telling you : "Please feel free to shout asking who is playing on a LAN, and giving them this information, if you have these out-of-body experiences. The double LAN login also causes excessive amounts of lag." There's no uncertainty, that was the issue. As for the orc warrens, I could find no crash causes. Where exactly in the area where you crashing? Funky

ok, i will take that as a definitive answer for the party/nonparty issue.
as to the warrens: the whole party crashed upon entering the entrance of cave. there wasnt even time to move around a little. as soon as the area loaded it crashed.
also, one other thing (sorry man): monday night, approx 9:15pm est, apparently there was a server crash (server .111). how is it resolved when ALL of the parties loot is in the mass seller, but it was not yet closed (thus selling the loot), and everyone getting their share. the loot we were selling was low end, but enough to make us a hppay. it was all the stuff from the beetle caves down through the koa-toa barracks, boss hut, and the area where the water ring is (im a thurough looter).

We can't replace loot lost in crashes, both because of the time and inaccuracy, and because te policy would be exloitable. Which entrance? What area were you coming from? Thanks, Funky

okie doke. loot problem solved then as to the orc warrens: we came in thru the entrance in the underdark river area. as soon as the orc warren area loaded, we all crashed.
