At 6:03pm CDT on 6/27/06 I just opened my Bank Transfer Chest when the server crashed. (There was no announcement of a server reset, and after LD whole server was down and not just me) As you can guess, all the items in my chest were gone when I logged back in.
I thought that one of the only times lost bank items were replaced were in a case such as this - so if you could please replace my stuff I would appreciate it.
My login name is JillyBean1 and I was logged in as "Muddy Mae Suggins" when this occured.
Thanks.

No, sorry, we don't replace items lost from the bank vaults, regardless of cause, because the policy would be exploitable. We have no way of knowing what was lost. Come to think of it, though, I may be able to install a logger to remedy this in the future.

Add me to the list.
Love the server, but I can report another example of lost Bank items. For some reason, the servers seem to be disconnecting people but staying up (there's a note on another board saying it might be a file server problem?)
I have succcessfully lost both bank vault chests - but no "crash" and the server didn't go down.
I went into the bank this AM, looked into my trade vault, and.... server times out! wait 2 minutes, re-log, character still in bank (not in vault room though) and trade vault is empty!
I stupidly click my character vault, it has items; I breathe a sigh of relief and then, when closing it, BAM! server timed out again!
re-log, character still in bank, both vaults are now empty.
I know it's Caveat Emptor, but if you had the time to look into how the recent server up-down connection affects banks, it would be great.
Thanks again for running a great server, and I look forward to donating to the cause.

I can tell you exactly how it affects banking. The PC leaves the server, the chest auto-closes, and the items are saved with invalid entries, because they are trying to draw data from an invalid object, the now-absent PC. Doesn't mean I can do much about it though. The conversion is already set to abort if the character isn't valid anymore, but that apparently isn't working, meaning the bank must be firing during an onclient exit event, in which the pc returns valid in some circumstances but most of their data is irretrievable. I'll see if I can't cook up a different workaround to deal with timeouts, but there is zero I can do about item loss via a real crash. Funky

Ok, just re-checked, it's worse than I originally thought.
ALL of my characters have empty personal chests - I just lost the entire ranger's secret set!
How is that possible? That character was NOT logged in, and chest was not open.

You must've switched cd keys, I'm guessing? Playing on a different computer, perhaps? The bank tracks you by cd key... Funky

Not trying to act like I know anything about nwn scripting but I'm curious - maybe its possible to resolve the issue by changing the chest, say, to a vendor? Seems that the record writes when you buy/sell from a vendor don't have the linkdeath issues you get with a chest object. I assume theres an issue with this - otherwise the market chest would probably have been a vendor.

Funky,
Ok, so I may be an idiot after all! Yes, I was on a different machine - I thought I used the same CD, but I own the Platinum as well as the original.
But now that I go back to my home machine, the boxes are still empty. If it is keyed off the CD, and now I am defintely using the same CD, my stuff should be back?
Or have all of the back and forth actions screwed me?
And I guess this teaches me to "just hop on at work for a second to do some loot sorting...."

Thinking it over again, if I were using a Different CD on the other machine, wouldn't that mean the chests would have been empty from the start?
I was sorting loot when the server timed me out, so the boxes were full at the start of this fun.

No offense, if you aren't a scripter the odds of your giving useful scripting advice are pretty much zero. In any case welcome to the forums! Funky

Please check to see whether you were using the same cds keys. The other option is that you disregarded an items not saved message. Someone recently posted in the drunken monk saying they found a bunch of gear someone accidentally left in one of the chests. Funky
