Today I went on a lloth run with a rather large party. Everything was going as planned, there was at least 3 or 4 veterans in our party that knew exactly what to do. I remember one of them saying that once we got into the final throne room and confronted lloth's adpet, that we should lvl up quickly....
We had beaten all of lloths menions in the room but one and were going after the adept herself... one menion left and when we killed him I gained enough exp to lvl up. RIGHT after that... and I mean with in a few seconds after I got that exp, we killed lloth.....
The vets told us to check our tags and save... I checked my tag and it said I only had destroyed Xul..... NO LLOTH... I waited a while and checked again... still no lloth. I started asking what the problem may have been but no one had a clue. The only advice given to me was " Seek out a DM and see if you can get the tag."
I found avatar of the shadows on an other server and informed him/her of the aparent bug/problem. After a rather long conversation consisting of him/her trying to find out if I was trying to exploit this or was liget, he/she gave me the tag and told me to still report this bug here.
Hopefully no one else on this wonderful server has to go through what I did.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely

If they were vets they wouldn't be telling you to save. Saving has absolutely no effect on tags, they are handled by our database, completely independant of the character file. They would probably also know that you don't get it if you are out of the party level range, in another area (as when resting in the ppd), or dead. I have yet to come across a legitimate tag misfire, other than those caused by ~s in names - and that issue was resolved already. Even those will register the tag immediately after killiing, until the next reset. My guess is you were out of level range. In any case, count yourself lucky, you got a free tag. Funky

You also get no xp if you have the xp for a level, but before you level up. Could the tag trigger be skipped in that sequence?

No, my AA couldn't take level 40 during her immo run due to alignment problems, but I still got the tag.

Switching them is on the todo list, because its more a side effect of the ex exploit block than an intended result, but it may not be this update. Funky

That would be why I was practically shouting take your level before we kill her or you won't get tagged (whilst trying to stay alive as my toon wasn't an immo at that stage). It's not like you can't level quickly then delevel again afterwards and then go kill a bandit to get your level back and put it on stuff you actually want.

Yeah, well, no xp no tag may seem to be a simpler rule, but even some of the dms apparently don't know it, so from next update on it'll just require you to be alive in the same area and within party level range of the killer's party. Not as easy to say but maybe a bit more intuitive. Hopefully this will eliminate a few 'bug' reports. Funky
