You're level 12, at the farm with a level 18 wiz that just got Wail of the Banshee. You run around, spawning all the Taros. You shiver in excitement as you lead the Taros into the Cloud of Bewilderments and Greases. You grin evilly as the wizard begins to cast Wail. Suddenly, you gasp in horror as the Taros surrounding you break free of their momentary dazedness to flat-foot you, killing you as you watch a smokey figure unfold herself and throw her hair back, three times in a row. Cries of "ding!" resound around you, a cacophony you can't shut out.
By the time your party gets around to rezzing you, all the Taro lie dead.
You weep.

Clouds dropping is what farm/temple is all about! You pull that whole place, just when mobs are about to get there the clouds drop, casters off in la la land, and all you know is as soon as the daze wears off the 30 or so standing around are going to join the 3-4 that didn't get dazed currently playing PC pinata. The insult to injury is some archer who suddenly blinds you and starts rolling constant 20s while your trying to pray to whatever god that the caster finishes peeing or whatever they went afk for.

IRT to topic
Something like that happened to me in the desert a couple days back - I got thrown to the eyrie at the beginning of a map, which I mentioned, and then while I'm waiting for a reply over whether or not I should pop the loot, my party decides to finish the entire map without me to the cries of "that's great xp!".

Yes but in the meantime you pop the loot and find some Hunters Points which you pocket because they can't see what you found there. Them "Did you find anything?" You "Just the standard drop bracers and a Dorgans Defence"

Just before lvl 40, I'm about to do an immo run for my RDD. By about 8 kills into it, I get my lvl, and the one that changes all my rdd stats (size, etc...all the good stuff). I get told by the group I can't log off to level, because since it's the abyss, I wouldn't be able to teleport to my group again (I've since learned logging puts you right back to where you were when you dropped, so in all fairness I could have).
We get to the Immo, after I've just passed up probably close to enough xp to put me halfway if not 3/4 to 41, and during the immortal fight, I'm about to click on him to attack him again, he strikes me dead, and before I even hit ground, my click hits "Respawn". I of course Fugue, unable to get back to the party, lose my best piece of equipment at the time (my armor), am BACK to lvl 39, and cannot complete the quest with the party, which takes a whopping 10 more seconds to kill the Immo.
When asked about why I fugued so quickly, I responded "because I'm an idiot and like clicking "respawn", and explain what happened. Entire group goes on ahead to start doing the fun LL runs, like desert and the like, since about half the party was immos anyways. I roll and get the Immo's armor, but can't wear it, so am now armorless (well, a +10 full plate, but that was crap compared to what I was wearing before).
Takes me a week to join another immo game, and when I do, I say "afk bio, don't leave yet" right outside of the door to the sage's house, and the party goes on ahead of me, not even reading what I had said about 30 seconds before.
Another couple of days rolls by, and I'm about to get into the Sage's house to leave (the leader was being a bastard and very impatient, three of us in the 10 person party weren't able to go because of this), and while running from picking up potions to get into the sages house, game locks up right in front of his door. Failed attempt #3.
I then get into another party a few days later (now two weeks since my first attempt, and also lvl 41 worth of xp), and crash roughly 6 times before getting to immo, 4 of them on the bridge alone. Luckily, the group was able to take him down in under 2 minutes, so I crash RIGHT after we get back to Sage's.
So far, that's been my biggest nightmare here.

That many crashes would indicate to me that you do not have the crash patch installed. (animation fix patch) See the end of Fusa's PDF for the link to the crash patch.
Don't feel too bad it took me and my buddy at least 2 weeks to get through a successful Immo run as well. You future Immo runs will be smoother I guarantee it.

Actually after installing the Crash Fix my computer was having a worse time with the game. It's not the motions (which the animation fixes, by replacing all the "updated" instances that were put in from the expansions), it's actually the camera doing a spin whenever my character changes his facing (I use Driving Camera mode), and especially when in a place like the Bridge on the Abyss run, there's a ton of turning.
I've just learned to live with it, since it's almost always based on me getting Attack of Opportunities (making the character spin faster than normal), and it especially happens when AoE's are going on. I figure it's something to do with Win XP, as my video card is very compatible with playing a game as dated as NWN.
Either way though, that character really was hell to get leveled, lol.

Playing in driving mode might possibly be my worst nightmare.

For some reason when I was playing the game years ago, I got used to it being in that camera angle, and I hadn't had any issues with it until I started playing again (post expansions).
I guess I'll have to work out with the other angles, see if there's something I can get used to though. Really hate the idea of not being able to spin around in 3rd person though.

After playing around, I found the easiest way to target the locked chest in Thrall Housing was by going completely top down. Had a real old school feel to it so I tried it out a bit more in combat.
Yeah, that lasted all of 10 seconds.

Yeah, that lasted all of 10 seconds. Were you saying to yourself, "Elf needs food badly," and, "Wizard shot the food?"
