So, for those of you who havent seen me in over a week it was due to having my computer cleaned and a upgrading to a 8800 video card.
Well I got my computer back today So after jones'ing for nwn for over a week, I decide to re-install it and download the cep files again.
So things seem ok, right..everything is hunky dory with my computer and inter-net connection. I commence the downloading of cep 2. When to my suprise its going to take me 8hrs.42 min to complete the download using a cable modem.
The first thought that came to mind was, "Wtf!!!! they've destroyed my baby( computer). After taking a deep breath and letting the fog of war fade from my mind; I decide to run a few ping/speed/bamdwidth tests on all of my computers at home. All are very...very slow im lucky to download anything at all with speeds lower than dial-up.
I call my ISP to get some help and see whats up...after spending 4 and a half hours on the phone with one customer service techie I get this reply," Oh, I'm not sure what the problem is I'll send a service tech. out on next Wed. "
Needless to say I'm over the boiling point by this time. It took a monumental feat of self-control not to reach through the phone-line and throttle said CS techie...lol. I calmly said ok thank you, click.
I then went and replaced the outside cable-box hardware attached to my house with new parts; even went and bought a new cable modem as he inffered that this is what was causing the problem.
So I call my ISP back and get a different cs techie (I called to get my new modem's mac accepted and to see if this was the problem). The new techie while pinging the new modem and before I mention anything about the earlier inccident says and I quote, "Wtf, I must be working with the worlds greatest morons." Lol, now I'm thinking ok, we'er going to duke it out..hah.
He notices my being very..very quite on the line and proceeds to apologize to me, that he was reffering to the techie I had chatted with earlier in the day. This guy then goes on to say that the problem was never my hardware and that the other guy should've know it was in a relay box.
He then asks if I kept the reciept from the modem purchase, and that if I did to take it back and get my money returned...lol....He then went on to say Wed. was the earliest he could get someone out to my place and then apologized for the long wait.
I must say after chatting with the second guy which took a total of 15 min I felt much better. I find the whole situation rather commical now. I think I'm going to rent the movie, "Larry the Cable Guy" to prepare myself for this up-comming Wed....hehehe
