Many people dead (reports of 20-30). Sad, and disturbing... just sad.
Thought it should be mentioned for those that maybe.. don't know yet...

Graduated from Vrginia Tech in 97, really sad to see something like that happen in such a pieceful town and a great university. Kind of ironic that I'm currently looking for jobs in that area to move out of the gang infested city I live in now.

What is truly sad is that acts such as these are almost becoming commonplace. It seems there is a random shooting almost weekly though certainly not of this magnitude. My wife and I home school our son so that he is not exposed to the violence in ELEMENTARY schools! I was commenting to a friend this morning when discussing this issue that when I was my son's age I was allowed to go to the park by myself or ride my bike all around the neighborhood.
Society has changed a lot over the last 15 to 20 years...often I wonder how much of the change has been for the better.

When I was six, I walked to school, went to the swimming pool, and played in the park with one or two friends in a city of nearly 400,000 people. Now I wouldn't even think of letting a six-year-old do any of those things by himself in a town of 6,000. And last report was 33 dead. Sad.

I may not be holding the handle but at least I'm enjoying the ride. From one parent to another: Be cautious as to how sheltered that son of yours is. Sooner or later he'll have to face our cruel and overpriced society. Back to the topic at hand: I love how these manic depressed killers always shoot themselves at the end......they could save us all a lot pain if they did that first.

Yes why couldn't they just shoot them self first. Perhaps there only reason for this diabolic act is to make the headlines all over the world ... an scare all parents.
In times like these I'm love this little rather peaceful kingdom (Denmark) in the high north. Here kids still walks or ride there bikes to school and ride there bikes around the neighborhood after school.
But i fear that it's only a matter of time ... the open boarders in EU will change the society over time.

I'm lost for words really. I grew up in that area. . . used to go to Tech football games when I was 9 or something. My bro graduated there with 2 engineering degrees. . . I just feel awful about the entire thing having grown up in that area. Truly sad and just a horrific tragedy.

The % of crazy people to the population is pretty static. However with the increase of population, more crazy people will be around to do this stuff. We are already covering new 24 hours in a day so along this reasoning I would think that we unforunately will only see more of this stuff as insidents of it increase.
Sad.
