Having watched the "original" movie (the animated one) and the TV series as a kid, I have been interested in this movie ... however ... I have become increasingly dissatisfied with Hollywood blockbuster movies and go out of my way to avoid them. They all try to outdo each other with special effects, bigger explosions, blah-de-blah-blah. Even James Bond, the bastion of stunt co-ordinator genius has suffered in recent years (although Casino Royale certainly reversed that worrying trend). And so I give the prospect of seeing this movie a decisive "meh".

T and I saw it yesterday, we gave it an . .okay . . . very standard blockbusterish fare in some cases though it had quite a few funny and cute bits. T was incredibly irritated that bumblebee was no longer a VW but was transformed into a camaro. But don't worry there's tons of setup for a sequel. . . . like movie makers couldn't possibly come up with something ORIGINAL for a change.

it IS standard blockbuster fare, but done well. i feel like it was done as well as possible given the premise of creating a live action transformers movie. while i know many people hate michael bay (its the cool thing to do) i think he pulls off the blockbuster well. the movie has a great sense of scale, as in it feels very epic. there were parts i think could have been left out, and other parts i wanted to see, but overall i loved the movie. not as good as the rock, of course, but that's probably the best action movie of all time

i soooooo want to like that movie and i'm probably going to give it more breaks than it deserves... i don't even care what prime says - he's got the right voice, so it's going to be cool anyway. ...but if i don't like it enough to get the dvd, then there is gonna be hell to pay. and i just found out that the release date here in germany was pushed back a month.... +1 or 2 weeks waiting for an english screening. it will be a while before i get to see it.

T was incredibly irritated that bumblebee was no longer a VW but was transformed into a camaro. -S Well, I'm guessing there isn't much marketability in the target movie audience for semis, construction equipment, and jet fighters. VW probably passed on the advertising. Hellooooo Chevy. *sigh* Funky

what happened is that GM basicaly bought the movie. meaning that all non-military vehicles (and maybe those too) are of general motors manufacture

This most annoying thing about the movie was the lack of the lack of dialogue from the transformers themselves. Heck Starscream, who never shut up in the original series, didn't say a damn thing the whole movie, and aside from Optimus waxing philosophical a couple of times the dialogue never progressed much beyond one liners like "Autobots..roll out!".

Lol, the effects were amazing. Very awesome overall, though the details were somewhat lacking.
IT WAS SO AWESOMEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Acting was so-so.
It was like X-Men III, all about the action, adrenaline pumping through-out, no down time. Awesome.
