Nooooooooooooooo ! I really hope he made an "Emergency release" that sums up how everything would end in WOT...

I am really going to miss his books. I am very sad to hear he has passed. I stumbled across the series about 2 years ago and managed to read all books 1-10 and New Spring before the 11th book came out. I was anxiously waiting for the 12th book. Hopefully, there he had some sort of contingency plan so his book could be finished. I am REALLY gonna miss reading his books, what a great author.

If you check the site cath linked they have a seperate post discussing the future of the series. He apparently had an 'army' of writers converting his notes in the last months. Funky

Robert Jordan's books are some of my favourites in a quarter century of reading. I almost feel hesitant to read the continuation of the series if it is not his writing... but then that would probably not be what he wanted.

Will the series be concluded? Or do his notes only exist for the story up to some point that is not the end?

Didn't read that far on the site, but since he was planning to publich 'sometime after December' I'm guessing it was largely completed. Funky

i don't want to sound insensitive, but i thought his books were terrible after the first 4. i am sorry he died, i would have bought the last one if only to see how things ended.
again i don't mean to sound like an ass, even though i know i do, i'm just taking the opportunity to talk about how pissed i am

I liked the first 6 books, then it started to become a neverending vacuum of confusion and uninteresting events not progressing the story sufficiently. I think he could have ended it around book 8 or 9. Anyway, I would still like to know how it all ends.

I've been listening to the podcast for a while now. While the podcast could use some work I did learn that the final book (#12) is called "A Memory of Light". He had planned on several spin-offs of WoT (stories about Matt, Perin, etc..) but I seriously doubt that will be happening now.

Just noticed this thread. I too was saddened by the passing of RJ. It is never easy to create a completely new story with a new world, and new ideas on the use of magic without drawing on classics of the past. I believe RJ did a pretty good job of creating a world of his own. Granted somethings are obvious references to the ever standing classic Lord of the Rings, but RJ was able to build off of that and create an epic story that I believe has no parallel in terms of sheer size. The magic system (weaving)..wow! Angreals and Ter'Angreals (sp?). The classic Good vs Evil as always but to then base it off of a recurring pattern?! The amount of extra stuff as well that we will probably never even learn about (lands Beyond the Aiel waste, what stories happened across the ocean. The dark isle. Not to mention all the great background stories that he created to give the series such a depth of history and place. He made the world come alive. Very few authors can do that. His work will be missed.
And will we ever REALLY know who killed Asmodean?

Also shares a ton in common with Frank Herbert's Dune series. I just figured it was Shadar Haran but I stopped reading the series at the start of Book 9 when I heard Book 10 was even worse so what do I know. I have to admit, I was dragging myself through the series after the cheesy ending to the Samuel storyline at the end of Book 7 which was a real letdown in my opinion. Going to probably read to the end now though.
