I was wondering if any of the technically skilled people on this forum could answer something for me. Is it possible to run NWN smoothly when you put it on a portable hard drive? I was wondering since my computer only has about 30 MB of space (despite the fact that the documentation I bought with it said it had 80 MB), and I have a portable hard drive that is actually more powerful than my computer, and taking NWN off would make my computer run much smoother. Thanks in advance for replies. T1K.

I can't imagine any computer sold within the last 10 years (longer, really) only having an 80 M harddrive. My current computer was bought over 3 years ago and has a 150 GB hard drive. You sure that isn't space remaining or somesuch? Funky

I'm quite positive, its a laptop I bought a few months ago, I think in June. I'm positive that it has a very limited amount of space. And 80 GB is what the documentation SAID the space limit was, in reality its 30 =/. I know, I don't know where those extra 50 MB went either. Edit: I have about 9 GB left out of 30 GB. So, yes, it would free quite a bit up.

Many new computers come with "Shovelware" stupid useless apps you don't need and many are timed trial versions. It could also be that it was partitioned without using all available space. R-click "My Computer" -> "Manage" and then click on "Disk Management" under "Storage" and you should see your drives and any free space that may not have been allocated.

As to whether it will run from the portable harddrive if your machine and the drive are both USB 2.0 then it should be fast enough. Load times may be a little slower.

Oops, I know, I shouldn't post past 9:00 PM At any rate, I suppose I'll try it out tomorrow, worst that can happen is that I destroy my computer, which isn't so bad because I keep getting the urge to throw it out the window, which would be great if my window wasn't jammed shut. I checked the partitions, there are 3, 1 with 6 GB, and 2 with 12 GB.

hmm, can you take a screenshot of that partition screen? its very odd for a laptop thats only a few months old to have only 30gb
unless its a used laptop you bought, in which case the previous owner may have decided to swap out a harddrive for whatever reason
