I am the webmaster for my motown, funk, and blues band and could use the help of some of you scripters/coders out there. I have built several sites in the past but have always shied away from javascript, perl, and others mainly because I never had the time to devote to learn them well enough to do anything beyond basic stuff like rollovers and such. I've searched the web for some "free" scripts and have not found anything that looks like what I am trying to do. And thus have turned to you kind HG folks for some advise. So here is what I am trying to do. Make a way that folks can email us directly from the website. Basically the user would fill out a set of fields, when they hit submit the script would send that info to our email. Here is a setup I am toying with. Any suggestions / help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Stormchaser

Standard HTML includes Fields such as this, does it not?
Tip: Find a web-page that has a similar form, and examine the code they use.

For the 1st section, I use this code: Enter your e-mail address here for regular updates: <form action="mailto:webmaster@mydomainname.co.uk?no_signature=true" method="post" enctype="text/plain"> <input name="email" size="20" type="text"> <input value="Submit" type="submit"> </form> www.maddwarf.co.ukNot sure how you go about multiple fields.

A bit more info: I'd like the email this script sends to have some form to it, ie. a subject line such as "Email from the website". And also the email to have a similar form to the one on the website: Name: Sammy Jacksmith Email: sjack@theiremail.com Phone: 555-555-5555 Comments: You all suck. Glad this isn't your day job!
Another person handles our bookings so it would be nice to make it easy for him to know what email's are from the website, and easy to read.

I would suggest putting some mechanism in place to prevent spam bots from filling up your inbox. A random picture of letters with lines through it, for example. It's pretty easy according to my roommate.
You'll want to use PHP, there's a built-in function to send email. However, you'll need to set up PHP on the server first.
Also, HTML already has a "mailto:" thing, it'll use the visitor's default email client, which might be a better choice? Or do you not want to reveal the email addresses online?
