It happened like this - my party was in the academy. I had to run to the T chamber so someone could port. I made it there safely but as I entered the room through the portal, it did what I sometimes see in the maze - namely, my character decided to go running in some random direction as soon as I entered the area. This spawned some SSith which subsequently killed me. I had no respawn option. I lay there asking my party to set me leader so Delfestra could port to me. They instead hit the wrong button and kicked me from the party. They reinvited, I hit okay, and a second later I fugued even though I was in the T chamber. I didn't log previously while dead so I do not understand how it could have happened. Any ideas or just a fluke?

You died while you were transitioning. If you die while not in an area you can respawn - its an antiexploit to prevent relog-immortality in no-immo areas (you are not in an area when reentering the server). Funky

Funky Yes, thought of that - the thing is I ran around in that room for a bit before dying (my running is what spawned the Ssith that killed me) so I was alive during the transitition. It couldn't have been lag running either (or at least not all of it) since, as I said, no respawn option appeared in the menu like you normally see when you die in transitition. Just some fluke then?

You mustve had a respawn timer running from when you were in the ssith dimension. Funky

eeeyaaaah thats a nasty side effect. Die inside, say, the Pyramid, then on the way out get roasted in Vashyk's Ruin and then auto? LIkely to be rare, but certainly a raw deal, especially if you lose a UR out of it.
Ah well, risk makes the terror increase!

Good loot = more risk but at least I understand how this works now, so effectively wait at least two minutes after being killed and rezzed in a non-immortal area before you can get knocked down outside safely.

Although waiting 2 minutes usually helps considerably it does not make you immune to fugue on your first death after or your third death because i have found that the timer is random in most cases and could send you to visit the immortal at any death in a non immo situation ie: other dimensions, transitioning while dieing, changing servers after death. and even crashing while dead.
