i was thinking it might be nice to have quests designed for certain classes (like one for rangers only, another for assassins etc) where they have to go solo and without buffs etc and are rewarded with something sort of like a class secret, but not as hard to find. maybe something like a free feat like shield proficiency, or a one point stat increase.
the idea of this quest as a sort of rite of passage. must be done at a certain level, solo, where the player enters some out of the way academy for example, without gear (which will be provided for them, to prevent prebuffed weapons) forced to rest for buffs to be dispelled, and then sent through to challenge a monster, tasks etc. the idea is to give players who really feel like they either want to learn the cahracter, or THINK they've mastered it, to really get a chance to prove themselves.
its also important though, that the prize for winning not be something that gives players who have undergone the quest a ridiculous advantage over those who have not. bragging rites and some convenience should do nicely...

Like the idea, now to make it a bit more cohesive.

Persistence?

It would involve a significant amount of time (of more time, even) to invest in such a project.
At this point, it may only be left to ponder.

I didn't want to seem pushy or annoying =/ Or rather, more pushy and annoying than I normally am

i don't really expect it to be implemented, as it'd be an injustice to half-ass it. as it stands, something like this would change the nature of the balance of any classes which could fulfill the requirements and complete it. still, its something i've had on my mind a bit, unfortunately i don't know of too much for actually creating a challenge.
the idea being its not about having a high enough dc to wail, but when to do what etc. maybe doing it as something you can keep coming back to and progressing through different levels of difficulties. so it might start out at level 35, you have to go at this level or forfeit future experiences, where you fight a couple of monsters. the sorceror version of this spell might involve several creatures which must be handled quickly and efficiently (have to know which to knockdown, grab, etc). maybe for tanks it would be protecting anNPC or something.
as they return, at subsequent levels, the challenges get increasingly difficult, wile the maximum level requirement stays the same, meaning that if you fail a couple of times at a Level 45 challenge, you can't just go gain a few more levels and come back, you have to either decide to move on and keep leveling or to stop and find a way to beat it
