How about adding quests to the militia guy for XP. with all the various areas in HG it should bring them to life with quest when people try to power level. you could set something up with the zents, gaurdians, rahzid, formians, fire giants, grey renders, the web anything with a boss at the end. It would be cool to see something like this in HG. of course it will all pretty much have to be level based.

A few of us here used to play on one of the best quest servers we have ever seen, called Amon. The downside is a very large one and that is the quests can take an enormous amount of time to create the story and links around, and also a crazy amount of time to QA test for a really nice one. What makes HG excellent is the speed developments are done to the mechanics of game play that makes wanting to do new chars, play in Hells, etc great fun. I would say a decent quest would take a fair bit of resources away from this as seen from our experiences with Amon. Cheers Lala

Amon was INTENSE, but definitely not the style of HG. The quests were usually solo anyways (except for the occasional times you forget to leave the party and teleport that poor low level guppy on to the boat....)

Hehe unless done deliberately But do not forget the AL line was really quest based as well and OMG you wouldnt try that with just a few players, especially the classic AL9 quest. Or even Rensyk's 5 layer castle, or Black Island or whatever it was called to a much lesser extent. I really would shudder to think how much development time goes into making a quest, and as you say its not the style of HG especially if it meant losing the development of all those tasty quasi-classes, nifty abilities by classes and spawns, etc. I think it would be extremely difficult to maintain the development we see in HG and also introduce very good quests. I never got far enough to find haste items on my own, I think I only had 2, one of which was given to me, the other... I forget.
I do remember running alllllll over with my buddy trying to find the herbs, and also we killed Penthrax in our mid-20s, though it took us 45 minutes....
Oooh, and the Red Council Tower or something-ma-jig totally owned us the first time we talked to the lady there.
