A while back, during the illfated wizards vs sorcerers thread, the subject of featbooks came up for all sorts of things.
It was my impression that the idea for featbooks for certain feats was favorably looked upon. Knowing that the "to do" list is rather lengthy, I was curious if they're going to be implimented, or not, or where the status is on that?
Either way, I'd like to renew my suggestion for feat items for the following:
- A potion that, when drank, gives you BREW POTION feat.
- A wand, when used upon yourself, gives you CRAFT WAND feat.
- A scroll that, when read, gives you SCRIBE SCROLL feat.
The reasons I'd give for adding the above: These feats are minor enough that they won't unbalance anything, and also they usually don't have any place in a combat build, which scrambles for feats as it is. And they're useful.
People normally make bots to craft things. If they want to do that, fine, but its my opinion that it'd be better to make these feats possible to get in item form - so that *people* can get them added to their casters, and thus reduce dependance on bots, increase party teamwork and group interdependance. Because its always better to allow a person to do something, than a bot.
In addition, I'm really looking for a book or item that gives SHIELD feat. For all those hapless wizards out there. Its minor, but what it would do is clean up the minor exploit, and give most wizards an easy way to get access to a shield other than a BUR amulet, and it would let wizards USE the powers on their shields, which they cannot do if they have to exploit them on.
And for annoyance sake, it would keep them from being de-equipped on crash or accidental relog, preserving our inventory space, and preserving our spell slots and book preparation.
And that perhaps deserves more emphasis now that uncast spells survive relog / crash. Because for wizards (or pure sorcerers) with shields and no shield feat - when you crash, you lose those spells because your shield's unequipped and you lose the slots.
So I'd request those four feats put into item form - URs, I think.
And now, I'm going to make a NEW suggestion in regards to feats:
I suggest that three BUR feat books be made, for the appropriate class only, one ever also:
- Dragon Knight, for wizard/sorcerer/cleric/pm
- Epic Mummy, for cleric/pm/wizard/sorcerer
- Epic Fiend, for BG ONLY
Now, these pets will be useful again. And, adding one feat vs three feats (balor and visage) and one feat that doesn't add any spell power either, and couldn't be used by classes that already couldn't take it, doesn't seem unbalancing.
And if its a BUR book, they'll never be common by any chance, but *would* make a great prize or a great trade item for those lucky enough to get it.
Beforehand, taking the one-epic pets was a stupid choice since they were nigh useless. Now, they'll be useful again, but because of the absolute need for casters to have certain epics AND max stat, I just don't see them being used much as I doubt many builds would have even one feat worth of wiggle room. That will only be emphasized with the epic metamagic feats coming out.
I'd hate to see them return to the state of a completely unused server edit after all that work went into them.
So, adding a BUR book would be a great reward, but one that won't overpower things. More like a nifty fashion accessory. And it would make sure that some of the one-epic pets are actually *used*, so that the work put into them doesn't go unappreciated
