Pursuant to an unfortunate misunderstanding that happened today, I had an interesting idea...
Why not have the immortal shout when he gets to certain percentage of life, then again just as he dies? This would prevent problems if a group of players fails to shout so all mortals on the server would know he has been engaged and can get somewhere rezzable.
There's a global shout when a Dachy run starts, and that isn't even necessary (as far as I know) but the Immortal run has the potential to affect everyone on the server...so why leave it to the players to be responsible? If everyone needs to know something, can't we make sure players can't forget to (or intentially neglect to) warn everyone?

well, there's no need to kill the immortal anyway; you can simply run and break the crown if you don't care about loot, so the mass lowbie kill effect isn't related to the immo life status and intentially neglect to warn the server is a so funny thing

Seems like this is considered a mass PK and therefore a rules violation.

It is rude as hell and I tend to agree with Berkley that it could easily be considered a large scale PK. Consider if you had someone come along and randomly kill you. Would you find it funny? I doubt it. Peace, John.

Of course, intent can be difficult to determine, which is why no one was punished this time. Given that it's only come up twice in the history of the server, I don't think it's worth hassling over too much. Funky Funky

However I always find it amusing when you DO warn and when you kill everyone on the server the amount of people who still need rezzes in places other than out side the sages. Most of the time these are people new to the server who mostly don't have a great deal to loose from Fugue any way, I remember the first time it happened to me and I thought it was funny even then, thats just part of growing up on HG hehe

Even so, [glow=red,2,300][Shout] "Breaking the crown in 30 seconds!"[/glow] wouldn't have meant anything to me...but I got lucky and an immortal found me in the Merchants' Emporium, confused as all hell!

...but I got lucky and an immortal found me in the Merchants' Emporium, confused as all hell! Most of the people who've been on the server a while will use scry a few times after the crown breaks to see who else is on, especially those 40 and under who aren't in town. Then they run around to rez them (usually in Docks or one of the stores). Including sending tells to people in other areas asking if they're OK, and maybe explaining how to invite for a rez. It's courtesy. That includes using scry before breaking the crown to see who's on and possibly sending tells to make sure they understand. It's not all strictly necessary, but I'd rather have the other people on the server be pleasant to be around. Doing this little extra just makes the whole place better, and hopefully they'll do that in return for others.
