hi there..
I really need help. I can't get the lloth tag (and can't continue with anything else without that). I will always crash all the time in the last seconds of her avatar being pummeled to death.. and miss the tag then. Tried 3 times now.. always the same.. no use.. no tag. no fun.
I didnt/don't crash before that.. for hours.. its only there and then..
I can name witnesses.. try it again.. demonstrate my crashing there.. whatever is needed.. I just need the tag please.
Seems the only way to get it is by dm help.. maybe funky himself..
Couldn't find a dm online so far.. that's why I am posting this here..
Any help??
thanks a lot in advance..

Have you downloaded the animation fix from the Crash Fix sticky above? Funky

That must be [glow=red,2,300]really[/glow] annoying !
A few things to try: -
1. Ensure you have the animation fix installed.
2. Turn your graphics settings down before the final battle.
3. Turn off your combat log (right click on log ->exclude combat info.)

yes.. I have the animation fix installed of course..
and playing on lowest possible graphics settings (with a fast computer..!)
reinstalled nwn and cep too..
only thing I havent tried is to hide the combat log.. will that really help?? if so.. I might try.. again..

You reinstalled too? Becase about the onnly other explanation I had was a corrupted cep download. Funky

well.. I do have the strangest crashes.. lol
especially after cep has been introduced.. so I blame it on CEP! (maybe some CEP models are causing this..)
I dont crash that often, but some few people/players (maybe npcs/places too) will crash me, especially in combat.. all the time.
this might sound strange, but its true.. I can play for hours with a large group with no crashes at all..
and if certain players join (found a few so far.. have to make a black-list for that..) I will crash.. especially in combat.. like every 10-30 seconds.. and have to leave.. if these players leave (done that to test it) I am suddenly fine again.. this might be true for some npcs too (like the last avatar of lloth before she dies) hard to test that.. but while shes in that last state, I will crash instantly the moment I relog until she is dead (no problem while she is still that 1st lloth or that giant spider thing..)
it cant be lag, or graphics overload either, since that was much higher before we killed lloth (she was the last, no others left, and mostly taken down by mellee..)
I did not have this special problem before CEP.. my hardware is fine (AMD 3400+, geforce6800, 2 GB RAM...)
thats why I already reinstalled cep and nwn.. several times.. before.. and installed the animation fix.. latest drivers.. no sound.. defrag of harddrive.. adware.. antivirus.. everything I could think of..
done a new critical rebuild 1.68 yesterday too..
I still think its something buggy with some few cep models.. since I can name the places/npcs/other players that will crash me.. so it cant be a general thing. I think..
ah well.. it sure is annoying..

You've tried reinstalling, but have you tried redownloading the CEP files? It's possible the copy you reinstalled from has some corruption in it that is causing your crashes. Aside from that I have no real solution, though if you can pinpoint it to a problem with CEP models, I would take your queries to the CEP team--they may be able to help you more.

yes.. I have redownloaded the cep files too..
I can try to contact the cep team.. but I have tried that before without an answer (well I got one answer with some standard tips that didnt help me..).
it still is unsure if it is a cep problem at all.. or at least it is hard to prove that..
to solve my problem will take a lot of time I think (that I dont have).. or maybe its not possible.. theres hoping nwn2 will help me there..
anyway.. does this mean I cant continue here because I wont get the tag? that would be sad, because I can play here fine most of the time.. and I have done that run 3 times now, without many problems.. I wont even die once on that run if I pay attention.. its not that hard for a lvl40 fighter with 95ac and 900+ hps.. its neither cheating nor unfair to other players if I just get the tag.. I think.. if its possible technically..
any help would be greatly appreciated..

Just a thought, do you have "Shiny Water" disabled? because that caused me a few crashes..

Another thought - I have read of some people having their animation fix overwritten when they reinstall CEP. Prehaps you should reinstall the animation fix just in case.
Also, do you have any other hakpak or overrides installed? This could be causing a conflict and causing your crashes.

The only way we can help with a tag is if a dm completes a run with you or sees you complete one. Track one of us down ingame and ask. Funky

personally had a problem with some crashes, nearly always after an update (bioware or CEP). I cant see that any of the fix files are overwritten, maybe it gets bypassed by updates, Ive never bothered to check.
every time its been down to the animation fix. once you have installed everything else, then put in the Animation fix. If you get an update for CEP or Bioware - re install the animation fix straight afterwards. Works for me.
Another thought is your bandwidth, or ISP, try playing at another time of day if possible. or see if your party will allow you to stay back and out of the way on lolth death. As lolth is nearing death point yourself in a corner and look at the wall, this may hopefully reduce the amount of info needing to be downloaded to your machine. If you find this works, it could well be your connection, ISP, Bandwidth, or even down to heavy online useage in your town/building.
(Lolth is a pretty heavy section and I can often tell if a lolth party is running just by little tell tale lag spikes when im in most other places on the server).
Hope it gets u running. trix

Sorry to hear about your crashing, and I don't have anything to add really, but my wife has the same problem with her laptop. The times that it locks up most often are when I am on the screen at the same time as her, and she opens her inventory. So I'm not sure what causes that. I can tell you that I'm playing a half-dragon, green, but I can't imagine that causing any issues; there are plenty of those running about. Just something else to ask people about when you find someone who seems to make you crash. Trying to find commonalities is all.
Also, did you try disabling the combat log? I'm not at home, and can't have her try it, but we might tonight if we get time.
