Hi, I am new to higher ground. My first char is a lvl 7 wiz. My character (and another friend's char - 5 of us are playing) seem to have problems with blank portraits, intermittent immobility (only strafe works) and seeing other players movements (need to keep eye on map to see where party is). We are also (just the two of the 5) experiencing general can't see our inventory at times (relog usually fixes this).
Also I noticed when I put on a cloak the rings, belt and ammy I am wearing dissappear from inventory screen. If I remove cloak and close reopen inventory things go back to normal.
Are our characters just messed up? The really big pain is not seeing others. Any help or advice would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Mctigue
Character name is Circe

Are you and your friends playing on a LAN? If so, you will have to make sure each copy of the game is set to transmit through a different Client Port specified in the nwnplayer.ini file.

Nope, we are all playing from our individual homes. I have played NWN for quite awhile over the internet without much problems with my current config. My config is a desktop with one network port connected to a router connected to a dsl modem.
Thanks for input.

That sounds like it's taking a long time to load certain resources. Try doing a tracert to the following ip: 64.237.35.112
You do a tracert by clicking the start menu, then run, then typing 'command' and clicking 'ok'. You then type 'tracert 64.237.35.112' and hit 'enter'. Wait for it to finish. If the ping times are under 200, its likely something specific to your computer/s. Other players, especially in Europe, have reported choppiness in the last or so, however, so there me be some more widespread connectivity issue. Funky

I will do a tracert tonight. I can tell you the server ping times were reported to be 150-170 range the 5 or 6 times I logged in last night. I will also confirm the issues happen with a different char tonight.
Thanks for your help Funky.

Hi,
My tracert seemed to go okay. I had one hop that was slightly over 200ms the first time I ran but all others were under.
I also logged on as a second char I started and seem to have the same problems with that char. Well at least the blank portrait of party memeber and not seeing them move on screen (only on map can I tell they are moving - on the screen they just stand there with their legs moving and pivoting).
I guess it must be something wrong with my pc/nwn setup that only shows on higher ground. That cloak thing is weird though, makes me think it something to do with cep and latest patch.
Let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks, mctigue

My guess is you have some screwed up files in your override, or some that went corrupt. I would clean it out, reinstall the crash fix from the sticky above, and check to see if any of the file saizes seem off in your portraits folder. I'm assuming that the issue is with custom portraits in that folder, rather than nwn ones. If the problem IS with standard nwn portraits, however, you should probably uninstall and reinstall nwn. Had you been using the Interserver portals on the docks prior to this incident?

Hi, Don't have any files in override and yes they are regular portaits, so it looks like a reinstall.
Haven't used any portal.
Thanks for the replies. mctigue
