Lev 9 arcane spell suggestions:
Is there any scope for re-doing the shapechange lev9 wiz/sorc spell? At the moment its of only minor use when you can first cast the spell, and quickly outlives its usefulness later on, thanks to the loss of spell slots from using it, along with the risk of dying when polymorphed, and having the bug where your items dont then work properly.
I'm thinking along the lines of altering it so the temp hp scales up with caster level, as well as other things such as the creatures special abilitise (e.g. damage reduction, regen, etc.), and if possible the ac and ab.
Wierd - given will saves are on average significantly higher than fort saves in LL areas, this ends up being far less effective than wail. Perhaps the damage on failing the first save could be increased and scale with caster levels? Maybe 1d3 damage/caster level on the fail of the first save?
Summon Creature VII-IX spells - the radiance elemental is quite nice pre-LL, but rapidly becomes useless after that. While I'm aware there are other summons, perhaps at later levels the radiance elemental could be improved, to have higher ab and ac, so it at least has a chance of doing something (while still being weaker than other summons like the epic dragons etc.)? To reduce the number of new creatures/summons to be created, 1-2 new improved radiance elementals could be created for higher caster levels, with the lev8 and 7 versions lagging behind by 1 or 2 elemental versions (e.g. lev9 lev60 casts the most powerful elemental, lev8 casts the one a tier lower, lev7 casts the one below that).
Gate - instead of having the lloth spider signet as a one-off item, instead have it where if you own the item, your gate spell is improved (upon reaching a certain level maybe), and you can then summon the spider instead of the puny balor.
Energy drain - remove the save, (and possibly the touch attack if it has one). Most enemies are immune to ability/level decreases anyway, and even if they didn't have any save against this it'd still take ages to kill enemies (compared with other lev9 spells like pwk, wail, or empowered FoDs). However it would allow it to be used for fun sometimes.
Bigby's Crushing Hand - scale the damage up. As it is it deals 0 damage to virtually every enemy, even low level ones. Perhaps have it scale up until it deals the same damage as the epic bigby spell does once reaching lev60?
