Is there a single thread that states currently ACTIVE guilds and the mission statement/purpose of that guild. I know there are a few threads of the guilds that have the ideals behind them but I see the private listing and see there are quite a few more guilds that I can not easily find their raison to be....
Also are some guilds redundant or duplicated by other guilds in their purpose?
Just interested in joining a guild and would like to find the one most inline with my type of playing and are currently accepting new members.
One thread by another poster requested this but was answered with something along the lines that some quilds may not want any joe smoe to look at a list and start asking to join. This may indeed occur but the guild still has to accept that person by their requirements or what not.
Besides it would seem to me that all guilds have some time of "trial" period for new members before attaining full membership or something. Those familiar with the MUDD Achaea would know this same concept as houses.
Anyway, a list of guilds with purpose and memebership requiprments would be helpful
Thanks!

This may indeed occur but the guild still has to accept that person by their requirements or what not. The guilds on Higher Ground are usually less formal than that - when all is said and done, they're basically just groups of people who like to hang out which each other. Funky leaves how we handle who joins entirely up to us. As such, though guilds have themes and I imagine often share common interests, you shouldn't expect anything as rigid as legally binding requirements where we have to accept people. If you want to join a guild, you should try to find that out for yourself by going to the indivisual guild threads and talking to different people in these various guilds, not by requesting the guilds come to you. Think of it like you trying to get a job at a certain company with high standards. As a job seeker, the company expects you to do your homework - do research about it, go talk to them, know a little bit about them, find out what's available.

While the trial period sounds reasonable, it is often not ideal. Before extending any offer to join a guild I think most people want to be sure they want that person permanently. It would be awkward and feeling could get hurt to offer a trial period and then try to let someone go.
My best suggestion is to look at the Guilds that post their membership lists and try to party with some of them. You will learn what they are like as they get to know you. If you think its a fit ask one of their members to sponsor you.
